So, we’ve had many threads over the years that said
“You can only have One knife, what is it?”

This thread asks

“Of all your knives, which one would you keep forever and if you lost it, you would try and replace it right away “

So not a one and only question but a Which is your favorite to date

For me, not including my SAK’s as I consider them more tools than knife, would be my Giantmouse Ace Farley, just a very comfortable size knife

The micarta is soft to the touch

The all black PE Kershaw Shallot 1840CKT is the 1st knife that I spent any "serious" money on back in the 1980's. I lost it somewhere and didn't replace it immediately but when I decided to start collecting knives, it was the FIRST knife on my buy list in order to replace the one that I lost.

iu

Since then, I have collected EVERY variation of the Shallot that I know of, except for the "rainbow" version that I can't stand, and the 1840CKT is the ONLY knife out of the over 360 knives in my collection that I would NEVER sell because it has sentimental value to me.

Here's a pic of my Shallot collection.

When I looked at the pic it reminded me that I actually bought 2 1840CKTs to replace the one that I lost.

The 1st replacement was a factory 2nd (XXXX) that I found on The Kershaw Guy's website and bought because it was the only 1840CKT that I could find at the time but later bought a better version; both are shown in the pic and when I carry a Shallot, I carry the factory 2nd.

From top to bottom they are a:

1840
1840 ST
1840 110V
1840 ST110V
1840 CBZDP
1840 DAM
1840 CKT XXXX
1840 CKT
1840 CKT ST
1840 DAMCKT

As far as I know, the only variation missing from this collection is the "raindow' finished 1840VIB that (as I already mentioned) I never wanted to collect because I can't stand the way that it looks. I don't think that there are any others but If any one knows of any other variations that I am missing, please let me know.

Thanks!

My first thought was the Cold Steel Ultimate Hunter. Older version with CTS XHP steel so definitely pre-GSM era. Perfect size for my hand, great blade shape, comfortable handle.
But to replace it now would mean buying a GSM era CS UH unless I found another XHP one. Not sure how I feel about a current day GSM offering.

I'll go with an Spyderco Endura 20CV. Plenty enough knife for me. I reserve the right to pimp out the scales if I so desire. The Endura and Spyderco aren't going anywhere.

As this is an exclusive (only one made) personal design, it will have to be this one. It offers many qualities : easy to carry in many positions, sheath both safe and easy to draw, good at piercing, good at cutting (almost slicing level). Not the most versatile, not the most practical but all others (betters...) can be bought again or similar models can be found.

Not a single one of them.

Despite my love affair with my old Benchmade Leopard Cub - that broke several years ago - what's done is done & what's gone is gone.
My current "darling" is a Leek. Nice knife, but, if the worst happens, it will be yet another great memory.

I’m different than most. My favorite knife is a beat up old Buck 110. I lusted for one until I finally got one as a teenager. I carried it everywhere I could. I graduated highschool and carried it everyday since. Its been to work with me everyday I ever worked.

Now I like knives, a lot. I have 100’s of them. But nothing has ever unseated the Buck 110 as my primary edc.

The 110 is the worker the others are just entertainment.

This has actually happened to me. My EDC is a southpaw Spyderco Military. I have lots of Millies in various sprints/exclusives but the Lefty is the one I carry 98% of the time. One day Im getting dressed and realized it was missing. I searched every pair of pants I had. I thought about it and realized that the last time I used it was on kitchen duty 2 nights prior. I searched everywhere. Man I was pissed. I searched all my vehicles, I frequently have the seatbelt yank Millies out by the clip, but usually its my right handed models. I searched all my couches, my work, my junk drawer…. Everywhere. I gave my self two weeks. Carried a regular Military or a traditional in those two weeks.

Knowing the Military is running low on most dealers, I found one that had lefties in stock and bought two.

Not joking… the day after the two new lefties arrived I was looking for the remote that my 6yo daughter loses all time and found the lost Military buried deeper in my couch than I had ever searched before.

Oh well!

CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH MILLIES… especially that they are changing it to a PM2XL

Sorry, “Military 2”. Can you tell I am bitter about that!?!?!?

No question here, the BK14 is the knife that I already have multiples of, as it is definitely my most used and my Every. Day. Carry.

This one is the black dlc'd version that I love dearly:) It has cut many things: Food, Cardboard, Paper, Wood, Carpet, Drywall, Brush and so on...
