Now Hurricane Maria!!!--Hurricane Irma-

I believe comms & power are offline across the whole island. Hunker down, Adian. Be safe.

Good luck with this cane brother... We over here in SW Miami just managed to get power and hot water 2 days ago in my area. The worse part is that due to all of this, my 3 year old was just diagnosed with pneumonia and my wife with bronchitis after having her spleen removed in april. Stay safe and lots of prayers and positive energy being sent your way. Good luck and god bless.

Freddy

Oh man, Poor Adian. One hurricane is bad enough but another!!! and so soon after the first. I also heard the power is out on the whole island, and it may not be back up for months. Take care man, I hope you and your family are all doing ok.

This is being shared about:
#Maria left #PuertoRico 100%, for up to 6 months, without electricity and a few weeks with no water. The Emergency Management Antenna and the NOAA NWS National Hurricane Center have collapsed. Some cell towers have fallen and many radio stations are out of the air. If anyone knows of any person who needs help, they can call (787) 777-0940 #WIPRRadio. They are receiving emergency calls.

Hurricane Hotlines numbers for Puerto Rico to call and check on Family and Friends:
202-778-0710
787-777-0940
877-976-2400

(If you are going to share, it is better to copy & paste so that it does not come out as attachment.)

I really hope he's OK.

Hi guys!

We finally got some sat wifi setup here on base so I have some limited communication.

As a short run down, the island is devastated!!! Power is expected to be out for at least 6 months and up to a year in places.

Water is out and the damn is collapsing, so there is no estimate on when we will get water back.

Gas lines are miles long and have about a 12 hour wait. People are rioting at the stations, looting, and using guns to force owners to fill their tanks.

Security is a real concern as I have already surveilled people casing out our neighborhood.

Everyone from the gov to the military was totally unprepared for this. Not enough supplies staged and no communication.

We have still not seen FEMA or the Red Cross in our area of the island, seems like they are all around San Juan and we have pretty much been abandoned.

The Coast Guard evacuated their non essential people and families but refused to evacuate Army personnel until higher up got involved. Not sure if my family and I will be able to evacuate due to the security issues living out in town.

We lost just about all of the furniture in the house. Both floors flooded.

The banks are mostly inoperable and if you don't have a local account you can't take out money.

So far I haven't had to sell any of my blades or other toys, and hope it doesn't come to that, but if the military doesn't take us out and we are 6 months or more without basic services I may need to

But, we are safe and that's what is most important. And for now we are fine on water, food and fuel. It pays to be a prepped, but even still I have learned a lot from this experience!

Take care guys! Until next time I can get online!

It is good to hear from you. Glad you are OK despite the damage!
Help & resources are continuing to head your way in addition to what's arrived, just wish the damage wasn't slowing everyone down from helping PR recover more quickly.
Hang in there, & hold your own. Be safe & wily.
Thank you for checking in!

Damn man, I thought of you as I read the reports on the island... I figured you must have been among the evacuated. Glad to hear you and yours are safe, but it sounds like general recovery may be slow going. Let's get you States side again! Hang in there, buddy!

When this is all over, you are going to have to do up a multi part post about the preparedness you had vs others in the area. The issues you face along the way. Document the whole thing so others can get a handle on what being prepared really means. The stuff thats nice to have vs the stuff that is a must have.

Thanks for the update Adian, glad to hear you and yours are ok, and that you are safe and aware as well as prepared.

Godspeed Sir! PR is getting a lot of attention in the media finally and things will come around but the critical mass of the situation and challenges we're hearing are enormous. So many things you would never think of like Pitbull using his private plane to bring cancer patients to Fl for treatments. When you lose your hospital's you're in deep sheet.
Conserve ammo and make em count!

actually wrote up a full AAR (After Action Report) that I will edit and post up when I have better internet access

Yea it is def crazy and getting worse by the day. There are thousands of containers off the coast but there isn't gas to transport them.

But it is good that there is so much attention being out on it. The response has been much slower than anyone expected. We still have not seen FEMA, Red Cross or any aid group in our area. Seems they are all in San Juan who wasn't hit as hard as us. The storm eye came directly through the town we live in.

I'm just bothered that while American citizens and military members suffer, people are playing politics. Meanwhile these Soldiers get 1 MRE per day

Part of the issues is the people. They are lining the roads for miles for gas then there isn't enough for those that need to do their jobs to help the island recover. The gov should designate certain gas stations for Military, First Respondeds, Utilities, Drs, etc.

Best of luck man keep the family safe. Hate the bureaucratic bs that always seems to occur in the the aftermath of disasters.

A guy from my church hasn't heard from is 81 year old dad in PR since the hurricane hit. He is actually planning to fly TO PR and hike from the airport to where his dad's house is (was?). I feel for him, but personally, I think it is stupid, even though he is former military, and "has the training." ADDING people to PR who aren't specifically there from FEMA, DoD, or Coast Guard is irresponsible, IMO. No matter how good he is, he isn't going to be able to carry EVERYTHING on him that he is going to need both going to, and returning from, his dad's house. But maybe I'm wrong.
Glad to hear from you, Adian. Keep hanging in there.
