Nutnfancy video worth watching

What I'm trying hard to do? Get people to lighten up on the internet?

Suddenly, Rasco appears just in time to save the internet and nutnfancy's honor. :D

Like many people here, I watched ALOT of NF reviews when I first started collecting. It seems like every lower end blade I searched for, NF had a review of it. Now that I've gotten more experienced in my collecting (and thousands of dollars deeper) my views and his views no longer align. I have quite a few criticisms of this video, but the main one was that NF was talking far too much. IMO when a YouTube personality brings in a distinguished guest(s) they should allow most of the air time to be devoted to the guest. I felt like NF was trying too hard to get his opinions in. For example, I felt like NF should have let brad southard talk more instead of attempting to talk over him on multiple occasions. This interview should have been more like his interview with Ernie Emerson where NF just guided Ernie with great questions and let him talk 95% of the time. People clicked on these videos to hear industry greats give their expert opinions and knowledge, not Nutnfancy.

I have watched several Nutnfancy "interviews" and that ALWAYS happens. The other guy will be speaking and Nutn will just blatantly cut into it with his typical loud horse's ass "YEAH DUDES, SEE THIS SHEATHE?? THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT RIGHT THERE, BROS!!" and the camera catches the interviewee's face just in time to catch the annoyance. I already know that this video is going to have a ton of that. Of course, the guys listed will all be way too polite to tell him to sit down and STFU so they can talk.

It was nice to see the knife-makers. Nuts is the guy that set it up. So I guess he did a good job.

Fixed.

You've been trying to to negate some opinions for three pages now. :D

Can't you just accept that a lot of people don't like NF for whatever reason?

Sure. I could even put myself in that group.
But I liked him 7 years ago. That's all I've been saying this whole time.

If you're brand new to the world of knives, tell me a more comprehensive YouTube channel out there.
Or better yet, tell me a model of knife you can search for on YouTube and NOT have Nutnfancy's review be the first one that comes up in the search? (provided it's one he has reviewed).

If your knowledge level is below his, he seems very wise and informative. But as you progress and advance in the hobby and become more informed, he seems like a tool who has only a very basic concept of what he's talking about most of the time.

You guys better lighten up or Rasco will set you straight. :D

What I said. I still accept that he's obnoxious and talks too much. Especially about himself

As we say in amateur radio, there's too much noise for communication. If you find NF knowledgeable, then good for you, some people are irritated by his ego and express their annoyance with him. That's as much their right to express their opinion as you do yours.

That he has a lot of viewers doesn't make his ego more palatable to the more serious, knowledgeable, and I daresay, mature audience. When somebody is starting out with knives(especially those looking for tactical knives), NF might be a good resource. Most of his audience are probably people who don't have the time or inclination to seek information from the forums and thus take his opinion as gospel.

Yes, and he sold these for around $100 too. :D

I don't think anyone here is disputing you on that point man.
I think the overwhelming consensus is; he's an annoying boner.

Sorry if it bothers you that an annoying boner of a guy is so well-known and responsible for getting a ton of dudes into the world of knives.

Yeah, because anything less than complete contempt for the guy should be viewed as sycophancy, right?

You gotta admit, "NUTNFANCY SYCOPHANCY" has a nice ring to it. Still can't hack his vids though. Even in this example where I'd like to hear the Spyderco guys talk I have to shut it off as soon as NF butts in to show how much he knows.

It's just the nature of open communications, I wouldn't worry about the whole "like/hate Nutnfancy" thing.
Even if 0.1% of everyone that's seen his videos doesn't like him, out of 100k views that still 1000 people with a complaint to the question, "What don't you like about Nutnfancy?"

So in the right setting, like BF where most of the people here are searching for concrete information, the crowd would seem like everybody hates Nunfancy. It very well may be that we are the 0.1% and that makes us seem a bit terse.

Getting on that jealousy and envy shtick again? Haha. No, what bothers me is that when people try to shut down negative opinions about a public personality.

If you put a product out(and make no mistake, NF is NF's product), you should be fine with getting opinion.

And anything less than total admiration needs your lightening up?

Show me where I even hint towards admiring the guy.
7 or 8 years ago, when I first started getting into knives, I found his videos helpful.
If admitting that makes me some kind of fanboy in your eyes, I dunno what I can tell you.

If you purely hate him, I think you're wrong.
If you purely idolize him, I think you're wrong.

If you look at it totally objectively, I think you'll reach the same conclusion as me :D
He brings plenty of negative weight, and some positive, so how you balance your own scales is up to you.

But isnt rasco entitled to his opinion as well? We all chose to put our thoughts out there for the public to see so shouldnt we all be fine with each other stating their opinions?

I totally agree.
But if you ONLY focus on the negative, I don't think you're being honest with yourself about any of the good he's done for the knife world.

If I told you my opinion of him was 70% negative and 30% positive, would you agree that's pretty reasonable, or does it have to be 100% one thing or the other?

So far in this post, I've called the guy: Nerd, Douche, Tool, and Boner.
And still guys are like "Why you defending his honor??!"

So I give up.

Yeah, because anything less than complete contempt for the guy should be viewed as sycophancy, right?

I reserve complete contempt for a rare few. If I'm being honest, there were a couple of unfortunate youtube autoplay instances where his parlance had the effect of acute disgust and raised neck hair. The notion that one would purposefully suffer entirely through one of his self-righteous sermons without feeling anything toward the negative end of the spectrum, does give me pause.
