Even I know about the association of Busse and pigs/hogs/pork (and booze). Really hard to miss. You have Busse on your signature line and are genuinely uncertain about the comment? :D

I was genuinely uncertain about the pig comment, he had me wondering when on earth did I refer to myself as a pig, does my avatar look piggy like?

I did eventually work it out after a sleep. Despite the WTB on my sig I own only one Busse blade and am seeking a larger chopper for next summer, I do not frequent the Busse forum and simply forgot about the hog thing.

Oh I'll go ahead and play. Overall, I like the guy. Seems friendly and he is very knowledgeable in some areas, although I do disagree with certain points and ideas that he has shared, but that's why it's called an opinion. A lot of the time I'll turn on a review of his and leave it playing in the background while I'm in another window doing whatever.

As far as him acting like he does at times... lets be honest here, the guy has become a star of sorts in the world of shooting and gear stuff. It would be hard at times not to have some of that go to your head. Good guy imo. He is a Air Guard pilot that loves to shoot, the outdoors, knives, and motorcycles. The guy lives a good life.

If he brings people into our world (shooting, guns, defensive weapons, protecting themselves, self-reliance), then good for him. I agree that he can get a little long-winded, but I've also found some good info in his reviews.

Well I like his reviews. Sure, I'm NOT in the military, and so I don't mind EDC'ing half of the knives he throws out as too heavy, but he hits the high points, and I almost never buy a new knife without at least trying to watch a review of his on it. Cutlerylover and the others are good too, but IMHO Nutnfancy takes the "Civilian Sheepdog" mindset more seriously, but at the same time he is realistic about it. Ten out of ten on the likeability scale!

His southard review nulled any of his opinions in my book.

I never paid attention to him in the first place. But his glowing review of the Hinderer clone, followed by his hypocritical ranting about the Southard being made overseas, combined with his $30 Chinese knife with a $70 paint job (his $100 Tenacious), followed by his Lionspy collaboration (made overseas)...how anybody could ever take this jackwagon seriously is beyond me. Either he's so clueless that he doesn't realize how much he contradicts himself, or he's so full of crap but doesn't care because he makes money off of the fools that give it to him.

I believe him to be the 3rd member of Wyld Stallyns

I cannot handle the way he speaks and I really believe he was best friends with Bill S. Preston, Esq. and Ted Theodore Logan.........

hypocritical ranting . . . jackwagon . . . contradicts himself . . . so full of crap . . . fools.

You are getting awfully worked up over someone you purport not to pay any attention to. I'm wondering if this is more about envy than anything, because it just doesn't make any sense to get this vitriolic over some nameless guy from Utah having an opinion about a knife with which you don't agree. I don't think that people despise him because he has an opinion about a Sebenza or a Delica, because we all have our own opinions. Rather, they envy him because they perceive him as completely confident and happy and at ease with himself, and that envy manifests has hatred. That's the only sense I can make out of this obsession people have with hating an unknown, nameless knife reviewer from Utah whose videos are very easy to avoid if one really wants to. For my part, I would like to be as confident and happy as he appears to be. So the same personality traits that repel you and cause you to call him names are the very ones that make me watch his videos. And it has nothing to do with knives.

I have not seen any of his stuff in a couple years but none of that surprises me.

What does surprise me is the size of his following. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, there seem to be a lot of people out there that want others to make decisions for them;)

I am embarrassed to have him in our community.
I think he makes knife-lovers look bad...dudes!
But he wants the spotlight, so he's gonna get it.

LOL at all this.

I'm not a psychologist either, but perhaps the reason people dislike him has a bit to do with him confidently stating things we disagree with.

This is no more jealousy than disliking someone because they constantly spew anything you disagree with...some notable examples might include porn, profanity, religious or political views. It's not prejudice, it is simply irreconcilable differences.

You're so off-base with your projected assumptions of me that all I can do is shake my head. Envy? Maybe. In that I envy anybody who can be so full of crap yet convince people to give him money and free gear to test. And I don't hate him either. I couldn't care less about the man himself, or his reviews. What I don't like about him is his hypocrisy, misinformation, and the controversy he indirectly creates (such as threads like this one). Funny how you skirted the issue of his hypocrisy too, but instead focused your defense of him on projecting your envy on others. Birds of a feather, I guess...

Aaron, its impossible for me to have skirted anything because I'm under no duty to defend anything. I'm not Nutnfancy.

I don't see any hypocrisy, except when someone says they "never paid attention to him in the first place" yet have intimate knowledge of his reviews and go on public rants about someone they purport to care nothing about. You do a lot of complaining about someone you claim you don't care about.

My point is this - Nutnfancy is just some nameless guy from Utah who puts up goofy knife reviews on Youtube. Who cares? If you don't agree with his opinion of a knife, more power to you. Then stop watching. But to generate post and post in thread after thread about Nutnfancy means there is much more going on here than merely disagreeing with whether XYZ knife has enough jimping. Its way deeper than that. You and some others despise Nutnfancy [see my quote in post #69 if you want to contend that you don't hate him], and it has nothing to with me, and nothing to with knives. Its a visceral personality clash. He is supremely confident and happy and self-important, and you can't stand it. Thats the only conceivable reason that you and so many others get so wound up over something so insignificant as a knife review.

Moderators, please enshrine this post in the Bladeforums' Hall of Fame where it should rightfully reside, so that future generations may glory in both this post and he who wrote it. Thanks.

Ummmm....... NO.

Gentlemen. Discuss the topic, NOT each other.

As "Bone-Headish" as NutN can be I think that he has very valid informative reviews. He can kind of drive me crazy at times.

I feel like this pretty much sums things up. I don't agree with everything he says, but I still watch his videos. Here's how I watch him-

EDC Options(Especially things like the Victorinox Cadet)- I take it at face value. It's not tactical, it won't be tactical, and so him carrying the thing for a month or two is probably going to be applicable to my usage.
Tacticool Knives- Watch strictly for entertainment value. I don't care about his opinions on his next tactical folder.
Controversial Issues- I think his opinions on clones/counterfeits/fakes are ridiculous. I don't think it was wise of him to announce that these knives are "great", but I feel like there are more important issues in the knife world than his opinions.

Just my two cents. Short version: If you don't like him, if he offends you, if you and he don't agree on things, don't watch him and leave it at that. There is absolutely no reason to be insulting each other due to whether or not we like Nutnfancy's videos.

His controversy leaks onto bladeforums, where I'm made aware of it. I've only sat through part of 2 of his videos (couldn't tolerate them in their entirety). I watched them them because I enjoy a good train wreck as much as the next gawking onlooker.

First was the video he made on the Enlan knockoff of the Hinderer. Now, I've made no secret of what I think about counterfeit and knockoff knives, or the people who buy and promote them. In his video he gives glowing praise to this knockoff made in China. Don't bother looking for the video, because he quickly pulled it because of the vitriol that was immediately thrown his way.

The very next video he posts (or at least, the next video that I'm made aware of because someone here posted it) was on the Spyderco Southard, where he immediately starts ranting about how an overseas made knife shouldn't cost so much. A blindly ignorant opinion, btw, as the Taiwanese made Spydercos are every bit as nice as as the Golden, CO made ones, and Spyderco saves absolutely nothing by having them made in Taiwan.

The same man took a $30 Tenacious made overseas, slapped a paint job on it, and charged $100.

The same man has a special edition Lion Steel SR1, which is made overseas (Italy), and costs every bit as much as the Spyderco Southard does.

He is a fool and a hypocrite. Or a genius and a hypocrite. Either way, he's full of crap and he's a hypocrite.

It matters because he has so many followers; people that gobble up what he spews. I don't care how much he likes his jimping. I don't care about how much he likes his knives to weigh. If you want to listen to him ramble on for an hour about the Sebenza, it's no skin off my teeth. But if he's going to tell people to buy knockoffs and to only buy expensive overseas made knives if he gets a cut from the sales, then yeah, my hackles get raised a bit. Before those 2 videos, he was merely a blip on my radar. What I knew about him was what I gathered from people talking about him here. Some liked him, some thought he was a longwinded blowhard. Either way, he has a lot of followers and his videos get lots of views. But after those 2 videos, it's clear that he has some ethical and moral shortcomings, and doesn't mind that he's getting paid for it.
