NY Knife show

I was only able to get there on Fri.--but stayed from around 1:30 to about 7, with a quick food break. Saw PhilL, Bcaffery, Win Heger, Nakano and others. Missed you Lifter--but see 'ya in March!

I was also thrown off by the 2-room format. Might have missed it altogether if Valerie Elishewitz hadn't mentioned it to me. This was the first time I've ever seen a bar set up at the show itself. How much better does it get? Drink and handle/buy knives at the same time?

This show saw me realize some long-sought ends: Got a beautiful Terzuola TT-F 3A, CF scales, highly polished S30V blade from Les Robertson's table, as well as an Obenauf Model 2 (small-3") in S30V, another ELishewitz folder and a couple of other goodies.

A good time had. Wish I could have made it back over the weekend. Well, now it will be a wait till spring. Look forward to seeing more of you then!:D

Esav,

Yes, That is the pic! Thanks for posting it.

The show was awesome as usual. It was really good to see the old faces, Phil, Nakano, Lifter, Ken, Sky. Wish I had time to meet some new members. It seems I can never stay for long, I always have to head back home for some unforseen event. The one bad thing is that I did not even buy anything. So I am spending the rest of the night online browsing the net for a new addition to my cutlery. I have $700.00 to spend. Any recommendations?

I had pics til I stepped on my computer while coming down a ladder. Yes I left it on the floor and CRACK!! What a sound.

MW , you can own a Ceya knife!! LOL..

Louis, if I knew you had $700 on you, you never would have made it out of there alive. :D

Damn, for just $650 I could have bought that Mini-"Patriot"-Hawk Joe Szilaski had on his table, probably the coolest thing I saw at the show, but JoeS always has something cool. ;)

Hey Esav, I remember that pic. Did anyone see Tall Paul there?

Give Larry at www.bladeart.com a call, he may have one or two.
I believe they are being sold through select dealers. They are framelocks and they rock!

Louis, was good to see you again, dont be a stranger.

Phil,

You should have just asked, I would have bought that hawk for you:rolleyes: :p I wonder how much distance I could get with that mini hawk.

Dave,

I am definitely gonna try to spend more time on the forums, I miss you crazy bastids!

This is what I bought online lastnight

I held this knife at the show but for some reason I did not buy it. After looking at it online and remembering how perfect it felt in my hand, I realized that it is exactly what I have been looking fore lately in a folder.

Louis, I'm going to guess it's about 1/3 the size of a full sized hawk. So you should be able to throw it about three times the distance.

I've never thrown a hawk and I wasn't even thinking about throwing this one. In fact I told JoeS that I thought it would make a really fine hash pipe. He kind of gave me a strange look.

BTW I like that Tighe, nice score.
Did you happen to notice the pens that Brian's son Grayson made? There's a lot of talent in that family

Louis--I handled that knife at Tighe's table. At first glance it looked like it would not feel good in the hand, but it, in fact, felt very comfortable. A very slick piece. Good luck with it. Look forward to seeing all you guys at the March ECCKS. :)

Phil,

Yes, I did see the pens his son made. They were awesome!

Dick,

The handle comfort is what sold me on the knife. And you are right, it is very deceiving.

The knife arrived today and it is awesome!! Better than I had remembered. It is also the sharpest knife I have ever owned. When I have some time, I will take some pics in sunlight to show off the beauty of this knife. My only complaint, I bought the "flipper" model which was more expensive than the regular model and the flipper does not really work. It is just the design. There is not enough leverage and no real comfortible way to engage it. It works better to just flick the thumb stud and flick it open this way.
