I'm so excited I have a chubby! :D ;) :p

I was there today seen W.D Pease and others checking in so I am ready. It is on the 18th floor . The poster indicated that. The Security guards didn't know anything there, so don't ask them anything.

S/F,
Ceya.. Will be bringing some stuff to sale .

Ceya, I was there today too. I was waiting for PJ Tomes to show up. While waiting I was sitting and talking to Bill Pease in the lobby, he told me half of his knives were sold already.

Folks you may want to think about getting there early tomorrow.
;)

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it to the show this year.

Some lady decided to move her car into my lane while I was still in the lane! I am fine. My van (1982 Chevy all steel tank!) has a very few scrapes on the wheel well.

She claims I moved into her lane!!! You could tell by the angle of her truck that she moved into my lane. (Crazy B'tch said I shoved her at that angle.) I told her if that happened, her truck would be in much, much worse shape.

Her Mazda (yuppy truck) just has a big scrape on the door. She walked around fine for over an hour before the police showed up. (All the cops did was have us exchange information - no investigation.) She made no complaints about being hurt during all that time.

I talked to her insurance company this afternoon. Seems she went to the hospital last night and has a sling on her arm this morning. She is claiming medical injury, and has hired a lawyer! I have to stick around this weekend to wait for her lawyer to interview me.

I'll try to catch up with you guys in March.

Pam

edited for stupid spelling mistakes

The Strider table was mobbed about 2 seconds after the doors opened..I know I was one of them...Picked up an MT-L in OD Green.

I think the overall standout knife of the show was RJ Martin's Kerambit...It was really sweet.

Pam, that sucks. I hate sue happy people, especially when it's their fault. Hope things work out for you. You may want to counter sue for something. You also don't have any legal requirement to wait for her lawyer to interview you. Tell him he'll hear from your lawyer soon. Lots of times it's the legal posturing that dictates the eventual outcome.

Ok who was there? I was, Art M, K.VC, RDT, Phil. ok who else For thos e meeting tomorrow there is tables that between the customs and productions we can meet there like today.Sal G was there and showed some good stuff.

S/F,
Ceya

Pam, that stinks, we'll miss you tomorrow.

Ceya, I saw a bunch of people, Lifter, Louis, Beluga, BrianC, Wally, Dick, Yitz, Coop and a few others I can't think of right now.

It was a good show, but I hate the idea of being in two rooms again, (there were two rooms last year also). I toured the first room a couple of times before I even saw the other room.

I'll be back tomorrow. I hope to see some more of you there.

I was there. Couldn't figure out how to spot BF members so just enjoyed the show instead. Saw Nakano2 behind the Dozier table as usual but didn't introduce myself as a BF member.

Rasing two subjects here -

WHAD'YA GET?

and

What did you think of the show, good or bad?

For me, I scored a custom bolstered and waved Emerson CQC-8 and a Strider SnG! Happy about that, but feel sorry for the wallet.

As for comments on the show, some negatives: the lighting was bad for the main room when darkness fell. This was a hassle for the makers, as the knives don't look so good in dim light. I would also request that the maps they make next time show the maekrs names right on the table drawings, so you immediately know where to go when the doors open. Security was very controlling as to what door you could exit, which I did not understand why. It's not like you're trying to get in or anything. As for the good, lots of great makers and plenty of merchandise to peruse.

Boink, security wasn't that good as a knife was stolen in the first hour of the show on Friday. I heard it from the lady at the table to the right of Bob Lum's table.

Nakano, knows most if not all of the BFC folks, your mistake was not introducing yourself and asking him who from BFC was around.

Interesting about the main room and lighting conditions. I was there from opeining to about 2-2:30. I thought the main room was great because of the sunlight that came in. Didn't even occur to me that night time that same room wouldn't have enough artificial light.

I thought space wise it was better than last year, with more room for customers to walk around. I thought it was strange that security wouldn't let you leave going out the main room too. I thought at first it was to control traffic to move in one direction, but after the initial opening rush there wasn't that much coming and going to warrant that. Then I thought maybe it was their way of making sure that people visited the other room. But they could have done it in a more friendly manner if that was so.

I got a big knife from the Nordic Kniv-per table. Shape and design was puukko-ish but the size was more luekko (can't remember how to spell that).

P.J. Tomes was the maker who had a knife stolen from his table. That's a bummer.

I just got back. Overall it was a good show. I got to meet some forumites; Nakano, Ceya (showed me his designs), RDT (showed me a couple of his kerambits, ya gotta hold one of these, great ergos. It is apparent he put much thought into the handle design), PhilL, Joe Chisel; all great guys. Got to meet Ernest Emerson, DDR, the Crawfords, the Glessers, the Strider guys, Jot Singh Kalsa, Alan Elishewitz who educated me on his liner locks. I wish I had about two grand to spend but alas that was not the case. I would say the bargain of the day were the South African makers; they had some beautiful knives for great prices. I picked up a great little Arno Bernard) fixed wharnie w/ belly in ATS 34 and Warthog tusk with a Cape Buffalo sheath for $50.

Bummer and PJ is such a nice guy too.
Ken, You didn't get that stag Dozier?
(I have spies everywhere ;) )
I thought the show was OK. I like the 'vibes' in one big room much better. And what was with the posters and watches?
I didn't buy anything. Nothing screamed BUY ME. Well, nothing that I could afford anyway.
Ended up being very late for work, the boss didn't notice me missing, there was nothing to do...I could've stayed till closing

See you guys in the spring :)

Ken is right it was off PJ's table. He told me he had six people waiting to give him money and didn't even see the theif. The theif did seem to have good taste, he got a two blade lockback without scales. You're talking about $450. That has to hurt and may the theif rot in Hell, but PJ still had a good show.

Marcelo, good to meet you. I can add Indian George, Joe Chisel and a kiting buddy of mine Kevin to the list of people I saw there. I met Kevin at Liberty State Park last weekend with some of the other top stunt kite pilots in the the area. Kevin was nice enough to let me try his kite and give me some instructions. When he found out I was into knives he asked what he should buy for his first knife? I told he should come to the show, he did. I was showing him around and introducing him around to some of the makers. I think it kind of blew his mind. He started off looking for a $30 production knife and after about an hour a $5800 Shane Taylor folder seemd perfectly reasonable to him. :D

He had it narrowed down to a Joe Pardue production model from Joe or a Spyderco Native III. He decided finally on being able to say he got his first knife at his first show from the designer himself, but when we got back to Joe's table they had packed up and left. I think Kevin is going back tomorrow to get his Pardue. ;)
