Nyala

Why you bringing so many knives? Do those Beckers really break that easily?

Yeah, I tried to smear some cream cheese on ma bagel this morning and chipped the edge out of my BK9. Must be a bad heat treat on that one.:D

Naw, I'm teaching knife handling, and I wanted to have a few examples on hand, for show and tell. From small to large, scandi to sabre, you never know what folks will like. Like to offer some options, and holding is better than hearing. So to speak. I'll only be using my BK2 though, in my swank ESEE5 sheath. Gawd, I love that setup.

Maybe you could post over on Chris Reeve forum and ask what he was thinking with a leather sheath. Maybe he has a different perspective than you do about leather? I mean if you aren't chicken to post over there and all.

Cool. I think proper knife handling is surprisingly absent as a skill. Even among supposedly knife people. I think guys can be a little hesitant to ask. I look forward to it.

And, also, given the chance, I'll steal your Fiddlebacks. You've been warned. My conscience is clear.

Let us know what you come up with... I could also use some kydex for my Nyala (while he's got yours) :)

I will have him make two then. I'll send yours up when I get everything back.

The only thing I'd post about is this damn IDAHO MADE thing on my blade. Just damn!

I can get Rowen to start planting the trees....

Sure would be nice if we could get them made locally in Tennessee somewhere.

Wait, wait, let me get to the exchange first and start clicking refresh to make sure I'm the first one to score a Junglas and another ESEE-4 for pennies on the dollar.

If you know any woodworkers, expat has some shadow boxes he needs built.

I'll ask around. Lots of craft fairs and local artisans/crafters about in the Smokies. Expat, email me what you are looking for, and I'll see what I can find. If you want.

Jeff, do you know if they make shadow boxes in Idaho? I've got some business for someone.
send me an email or PM with sketch &/or description of what you want - I make sawdust on occasion, even if I don't live in Idaho.....

So why don't you like leather? I like leather and kydex. Personally, if kydex wasn't so noisy it'd be perfect. I just don't like the scrtachy sound it makes or the clicks.

So this is kind of late. I like Kydex and leather sheaths, but I'm kind of fond of the nylon sheaths with the Kydex liners also. If one is worried about how leather may affect a blade or be affected by harsh conditions, and how Kydex may, at times, scratch a blade or handle, a Kydex lined nylon sheath seems to be a good alternative in my opinion. A strap is usually needed to secure the knife but the Kydex liner is usually roomy enough to not wear on the blade or blade finish unless its full of dirt.

Nice looking blade you got there Jeff, I'll be looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it in field use.

Yeah, you better watch him Moose, he already said straight out that he's gonna steal my Bushfinger first chance he gets!!
