"Objective" folder tests?

How about this...
I will do the testing.
Whichever company sends me the most money and knives wins the test.
Objective! :D

It's quantifiable. ;)

You misunderstood me. I said " does it cut stiff ? If so then test over " meaning that cutting performance is what really matters.

"stiff"?

It's a folding knife, does it cut stuff ? If so then test over.

BTW here's a relevant strength test.
Put on an appropriate pair of gloves, grab the blade and handle, then try to make the knife fold without disengaging the lock bar. If it can pass this test , then it won't close on you during normal proper use.

OK. Is that test one people are using on the internets, and and how would one make that test objective?

What're you...nutnfancy? :D

I do love those "unsolicited testimonials" by people who are given free knives to test.

I wouldn't mind making a living by being given free knives to test, and views of a YouTube channel. :)
There are sure worse ways to pay the bills...like a real job.

Relevance is more important than being objective.
If people care about strength tests they have to do them themselves so they're relevant to their knife use.
Does it matter if you can stab through an oil drum or use your knife as a climbing tool if your knife is only used for menial daily cutting tasks ?

Objectivity is relevant to the OP. Right there in the title.

But most tests aren't very relevant as most of us aren't tactical operators who use our folders like this. There needs to be tests that are relevant to what most people use folders for, but the problem is that this type of use doesn't warrant a strength test.

I don't know, strength tests are pretty important to me. I'm no "tactical operator," but I like to know what my knife can and can't take. Also everyone has different uses for their knives.

And besides, the OP is asking if anyone knows about any good review videos out there, not what you think is relevant or not. Way to go off topic again. Too many threads being derailed these days.

The threads are always derailed...this is the internet. :)

Simple answer is that there are no objective tests being done scientifically by impartial outsiders.
There are a bunch of test done by people who may or may not have an agenda, using variable methodologies; there are no standards.

The best you can do it watch and read them all, and decide if a particular knife seems to fit your requirements.

There can be cases where an issue is recognized though, and then safety agencies step in:

Hazard identified

The locking mechanism can fail to hold the blade when excessive pressure is applied to the back of the blade, posing a laceration hazard.

Well...again...the OP is asking about objectivity, not what you or I thinks about the relevance of the tests.

You clearly want to change the topic, you go ahead then.

Nothing beats 1095 or an imperial slipjoint, chopper style knives are pointless, lock strength is moot as long as the knife cuts.

Got it.

Hey, I can also pretend to take myself seriously. Oh and what about 15 minute intros? :D

That's probably the thing that kept me from ever getting into his reviews the most.

I may not have the most action-packed life in the entire history of mankind, but I do have some things to do.
Just hurry up and tell me about the knife already!!!

How can I objectively test if a given blade does a swell job at cleaning under my fingernails?

Generally the only third-party knife testers I know of are obscure Russian Youtubers

Haha, you and me both.
