October BOTM--847 Vantage Force Pro with genuine cocobolo and S35VN!

I wonder if this is things to come for BOTM. To me they said, hey, here's 100 or so works of art that we're not telling anyone about and were offering them at a great price. Don't forget to buy our buck of the month next week, it's special because we called it the buck of the month. BOTM lost a lot of appeal for me this year. Purchased 3. 1 I wish I could give back and the other 2 (brass 110 copper 112) are cool knives, but aside from being cut out of a solid piece of metal, there's not much to em. Actually bought a few customs this year, in direct response to not being interested in back to back botm offerings. Seems like the "stealth drop" is the new Buck Of The Quarter, and a more worthwhile offering.

Agreed. The one knife I badly, badly wanted was a limited drop that was sold out by the time I opened the email. The Buck 110 Sport in MagnaCut, it probably would have been my favorite Buck, and top ten of the knives I own total. However, they apparently made very few of those and they went very quickly. None of the BOTM has really grabbed me this year except for the Magnacut 110 and the 3V 119 early in the year. But hey, no need for whining from me, I'll just continue to put money into other hobbies until something truly exciting comes around again.

It's a pass for me, but congrats to all of you that nab one. Please post some pics when you get them in. I am curious on how much the coloring varies in the genuine cocobolo wood inlays. I bought a vantage early on and just didn't like the feel of it. I ended up giving it to someone in need of a knife and they still use it to this day.

Good seller...down to 28 left.

I missed that magnacut sport one too, but I was able to get one from Craig. magnacut is what that knife should be in production. I expect eventually it will the the steel used instead of the current s30v.

overall Buck seems to be be pumping out a lot of limited editions whether actual limited editions or botms....all great but never enough it seems.....meanwhile standard models on their site are out of stock often......

Great point JB.
There's a great number of standard production knives out of stock. And those are what the average consumer wants.
I would hope they have that corrected before the holidays.

Looking at the grind on this knife....
Does it look different?
Maybe it's the lighting, is it a flat grind....?
Probably not. 🤔
I watched the video, I cannot tell for sure.
Look at the last 3 pics on the web page. Looks like the typical hollow grind for this knife.

Was a pass for me as well. I have several Vantages in several steels and like them all. I could not get excited about another S35VN Vantage. I would have jumped if it was Magnacut.

I hope Buck is noticing that there is a still a strong market for the Vantage (both sizes).

The small Vantage was Chuck Buck's favorite knife to give away as gifts (according to the testimony on the Buck website in the past).
I would assume so since the Buck mod told us it was gonna be revamped and improved in the future...

Mine is out for delivery today. Thanks, Buck, for the fast shipping!

Let's get those pictures posted starting today!

got mine today. pics make wood look lighter than it is in person. its pretty dark. was surprised pics made it looks so light I guess due to the lighting. regardless flips open easy with finger push only. no blade play. a nice example of a vantage.....

I think people have gotten so used to Buck's "cocobolo" stained Dymondwood that they are surprised when they see actual cocobolo. Your knife looks good to me.

very true. you are right on that bertl. I like it myself..just was surprised the camera on the phone makes it look lighter than with my eye.

Nice one Jesse! Thank you for posting👍
thank Jeff....

Delivered. Beautiful finish, action on mine is a bit … weird. Hydraulic-like - I can’t flip all the way open without a good wrist-flick. It actually thumb-rolls open easier than it flips. No biggie, it’s probably only going to be pocketed on special occasions, definitely not intended to be a heavy user. The real wood inlays give it a very nice feel. I like it.

My vantage is like that as well, it's not snappy and always takes a little extra to flip.
