This 110 w/BG-42 blade was recently sold here in Bladeforums.com/Bucks For Sale...

It appears to be a Custom Shop 110, but I also have a BG-42 Custom Shop 110, and my blade tang stamp is quite different...Mine reads "BG-42" on the flat of the blade, and "Buck/Custom/U.S.A" on the tang (with "Buck" in some kind of script)...opposite side reads "Designers Choice"...

I thought it odd (not unpleasant, just odd) that the one that was sold here reads "Buck/110-|/U.S.A." on the side with the "BG-42"...

Anyone have a theory as to the differences???

...Hmmm...Yep...My new 110 from the "Custom Shoppe" reads like your's does Trax..."Buck/Custom/U.S.A" on the tang (with "Buck" in some kind of script)...opposite side reads "Designers Choice"...

I think Buck uses different stamps, blades from other projects occassionally, it would seem anyway...
I have 2 Zippers that are stamped with designers choice,
My 2 Buck custom shop 110's DO NOT have designers choice stamp...

...Actually ...on taking another look I have a "reblade" 110 with BG-42 that says "Custom" on it...I never noticed that...

Here's a BG-42 560 (110 style blade)with a different script for the "Buck"...I believe this was sold to me as a "Blade Upgrade", IIRC...

I was going to ask about the vintage, but that's a 2006 blade. . .curious. Mine is stamped the same as DarrylS', "Buck/Custom/U.S.A" on the front and "Designers Choice" on the back. Yours looks like it was stamped as a production blade, except for that "BG-42" near the spine.

...I spoke too soon...Of the six BG-42's I have... NONE have a date code...All of them including the reblades are stamped with "Custom" and "Designer's Choice"...Looks like another one I'm gonna look for...

...LOL...They ain't all 110's Trax...Three are 532's...Hadda look at 'em all ya know...I got 0ne "Custom" 110, Two reblades and three 532's...:p :p

...Must be a ton of "stamp" variations out there...Just like everything else in the world of Buck...LOL...Sure glad I ain't a "collector"...:p :p

...They ain't all 110's Trax...

My thought is that the 110 (or 560/426) clip-point blade in BG-42 should all have the same ["Custom"] tang stamp...rolling it with the date stamp seems like it would be a mistake...maybe if it was a "blade upgrade" it would make sense...and make dating it easier...but that Buffalo scaled/FG/NS is clearly not a production knife...

For that matter...Why doesn't BG-42 have the "Bos" logo on the back??? Doesn't Paul Bos supervise the BG-42 heat treat???

...I do like that "Bos" logo and that's a good question..."etchings" of any kind are still not for me though...
