Of all the assisted opening folders you have, which one has the best "thwack" when

I only have 5 AO knives right now. My ZT0300 is definitely the most "impressive" opening. It has a slower opening speed then my other AO's but when it locks into place, my whole arm up to my shoulder moves. Quite authoritative! Throw in the loud "thwack!" of the titanium lockbar and that is my choice for "best".

The next 3 AO's, a CRKT Folding Hissatsu, Kershaw Blur CB and Kershaw Leek, open quite fast. The Hissatsu is almost violent in its opening with its thick torsion bar but feels unrefined and a bit gritty. The Blur and Leek since they are smaller open fast but the sound is softer but the Blur is much louder than the Leek. The Leek opening sound is more of a soft "snick", the Blur is a pretty standard "click" and the Hissatsu is a "Pow!". :D

And lastly, my old SOG Flash 2, well, the AO is less than smooth although it opens fast enough I guess, but it just feels and sounds cheap.

I had more AO's in the past but none worthy of note.

UpChUck,

My Kershaw Hissatsu feels the same way. When the blade moves out --it does it with a loud authority.

Wonder if anyone knows if one can take a Dremell tool and polish up the inner workings to take away some of the grittiness.

Also I like to gently sand down the rough edges of the handle.

Quite a knife for the money. Very happy, with my purchase and also with the design of the blade.

The Barrage almost flies out of your hand if you're not holding on!

The CUDA Dominator was pretty thwacky.

My ZT0300 makes my whole arm move when it snaps open. My CRKT Folding Hissatsu does so also but in a different way. The opening speed is much faster on the Hissatsu and makes my whole are move like my ZT but the ZT does it more with a slower opening speed. A very cool effect!

Honorable mention goes to my Kershaw Blur CB - quick and powerful opening.

i think that the huge blade of the 300 makes the effect, i am not at all sure it is slow, just more blade that makes the way.

and ya. my zt 301 opens like charme and with a noise so great :D

My ZT0350KW has the hardest kick out of all of my AOs. Perhaps it feels harder because its the smallest out of all the AOs I have.

Most impressive A/O, Autos that I own from hardest to lightest action:

1. CRKT Hissatsu

2. CRKT Hissatsu 2

3. Frank Beltram 11" Swinguard

4. Frank Beltram 11" Stiletto

5. SOG TF-2 Trident

6. Benchmade 9100 Auto Stryker

I only have two so my experience is somewhat limited. I have a Kershaw shallot, that is all metal, and it opens with a nice "clack", but I would say my older Kershaw 1560(Whirlwind I think it was called) with a fibre handle, opens faster and with a nice "thwack".
