Man, if I didn't just buy a 10LE I would have jumped on one of those Beckers. Very nice stuff.

Thanks it will be missed. But what can ya do. Life happens and I have my priorities straight so it will only be missed for a short minute then ill realize how its helping secure a better financial future. I can always buy more Knives.

Yeah Clich, I totaly want that GEC but I too just picked up a bk10, and I'm taking a ski trip for spring break, and in school too. I'm sure it won't last long.

Thanks for the info, she did go over shutter priority and all that stuff. I will find time soon to have a go at it :)

The best thing to do its just go out and shoot. I started just cruising downtown and at the harbor and photographing whatever stood out. You get home and see what works and what doesn't. Once I got gutsy enough, I started asking people if I could photograph them and gave them a business card with my website, so they could see them. Couples are usually more willing, but I've had some good conversations and photos with individuals.

There are also some good beginner SLR books out there, but start with your camera manual and the Nikon website has great info, too.

Of course, when you really want to get into it, you'll need a Canon. ;)

Oh wow, it's 1710 and the sun is just going down, dusk is setting in... I love to see the days get longer and think about what it meant to people in the old days... New hope for spring, life, warmth, enough food...

Stop being weird and get yourself into the chatroom!

Nice! Best things you can do for yourself are:

1. Never use your onboard flash. Ever. Ever.
2. Get yourself the cheapest nicer lens you can find. You can usually find a starter for about $100.
3. Every photo can use some editing, whether you darken, adjust contrast, whatever, every photo can be better by retouching.
4. READ the manual. If you want to learn your camera you have to read the manual, front to back, like you are studying for a test. Know everything there is to know. Do what you have to in order to get it off full auto. I cheat and shoot in shutterspeed priority, but anything is better than full auto.

Have fun!

for the OP :

strobist.com aka http://www.strobist.blogspot.com/ go there. read. learn :>

get some software (like aftershot pro) which if you shoot raw, can fix a lot of mistakes for you, and let you do some neat thing (effortless rotations and alignments) ($80-100)

get gimp, learn to use that some (free)

read. everything :> practice. on everything.

get a book perhaps, on general digital and perhaps on your camera, specifically...

Nice job Flexxx.

I've realized that getting my trail hawk all dialed in may have been a mistake... I kinda don't want to use it and mess it up now.

Danke, I will post pics of my 9 when it comes tomorrow .... wheeeee Delivery date for it says tomorrow !

Went through my gun cabinet last week and found a few blades I forgot I had. Here's one, never used it, but it's an oddball.

Got to play with the Blackbird a little between storms today Murph. It's a real cutter. Kind of in between a BK7 and an ESEE 4 but definately in the "only one knife" category. It reminds me of a big Blind Horse bushcrafter. Really a good blade. It makes me really look forward to the ffg on the BK16.

Now this is a slip joint. GEC primitive bone scout. Blowing my damn mind all over the room. Its a bit of a nail breaker but ill don't care if I crack em and bleed, I can't put this down.
