One Legged Josh is really "mixing it up" in my contest. He even threw in mayo!

Ha. Hunting. With a bow. I'd be lucky to not go to jail for that.

If you want to hunt here in Germany, you have to own your own land, get a license for hunting and for owning the required firearm(s) and pay a monthly fee plus extra for every kill. It's not a way to feed yourself if you're dirt poor, it's an extremely expensive hobby.

Hunting with a bow is a big no-no here, even if you do have a hunting license. Not saying I wouldn't do it, I'll probably try to get some small game this fall/winter, rabbits, squirrels, maybe some birds. Can I even kill these critters with field points? Broadheads are classified weapons here, you need a license for those.

Sucks buddy. Turkey just walk around here acting like assholes, most people don't even give you a hard time for knocking off one or two out of season. Shot one on my old mans property out the front door.

What's the bow for? Practice? Which is good. Shooting is still one of those things done from instinct. Like throwing.

for target shooting, a 35 pound recurve bow is plenty - with practice you can hit animal sized targets out to about 80 yards consistently.
the lower poundage also limits the chances of a repetitive use injury or torn rotator cuff in your shoulder.

man no one wants to part with their bk9s. been trying to trade for one since i STUPIDLY went and bought a HEST 2.0 even tho i hate folders. Guess it just goes to show ya those that own the king, never wanna part with it. dumness on my part. shoulda saved the extra $ and just bought a bk9 and micarta straight up before i bought the most gimmicky folder know to man

2 days of rain -- according to the nat'l weather service less than 3" -- according to the rain gauge, over 5".
They're calling for snow for the next 5 hours and my power just went out.
time to log off and put a spare blanket on the bed...

Is it the weekend yet? Going up to the mountain place, snow expected, and I get to test out my new pony (Pathfinder) driving in snow. Come on, weekend, get here already.

I had a V1.0. Fail.

For the money, you could get you a BK9 and CS Lawman, and have a pairing that would be here along with the cockroaches after the fall of man.

Yeah, The King is hard to come by unless you pay for an audience.

by 4 AM the sky was clear and my power was back on.
moon was bright and gorgeous.
no snow, 1/8" of glaze ice covering everything this morning, so I had to chip the car out but other than that it's a gorgeous day.

I didn't say I was going to follow that law on my own property :D

But seriously, the bow is for target practice, general fun with things that make smaller things whizz through the air / just keeping with me on winter hiking trips for those "you never know" moments (can't have guns here, remember?) and looking good in my room :D. Plus, it gives me so many little projects, I'm making a stabilizer for it right now, next up will be a bow quiver, something to aim with and string silencers.

The bow I'm looking to get starts at 40#, so I'll look at the 40# and 45# versions.

Thanks for the help guys!

I just recently got an old Shakespeare bow that's 40# at 28" draw. You can shoot it all day. Fun stuff.

Here is my grail bow, the one I am hoping to get for my Bday this year, since I pretty much own every knife in existance, except the ZT301, but I got a custom one coming in January.

Bowtech Assassin. One badass bow, and true representation of modern tech in a sweet package.

I had a Bowtech General for a brief moment, but had to sell it for some emergency cash.

I got to shoot my buddies Assassin, and I was tore up for days. He had is sights set at 25, 50 and 75, and I was pitting the ace all the way. I didn't like his release as well as I like mine, but I didn't have mine with me.

It was a life changing shoot for me, so, I've been after one since the spring, just haven't put the funds together yet.
