Well, I just walked right in small fart and bought the last two Fiskars they had. Here's yours Biscuit. You guys need to learn how it's done.

Does anyone have any experience with Samick recurve bows? I'm probably gonna buy one friday, I heard good things about them. Supposed to be good beginner's bows. What draw weight would you recommend? It's not my first bow, I have an old 25-30 lbs takedown longbow that my father gave me for my birthday at some point. I'm not super muscular, but no weakling either (6ft 165lbs), I'd like to have a bow that doesn't get too "easy" for me after a short time. It should be a bit hard at first.

Thanks guys!

i hear they are nice, but don't have one. maybe someday. mongol type for the win.

how much were they by the way?

my tiny mart only had X-25 splitters. i bought one. it fits the in between splitting needs of the original splitting axe and the super splitting axe.

guess i'm not "rural" enough to have my marts still have hatchets...

also, we had a majorly bad snow storm, lots of downed trees. generators - gone. loppers/choppers - gone. axes - gone. chainsaws - gone. limbing saws - gone. gone gone gone.

Trade, I got your cash ready and waiting. Or I can zap you a PayPal if you want.
I also have you and Kay two new small Swedish folding cups to repay you for the favor.

We'll be down there pretty soon, we'll hook up somewhere. Thanks for the cups.

Hey Bladite, how badly did your area get hit?

I cut about 3x this much on Saturday in Hartford. This is what would safely fit in the truck for a 65mi ride home...
Did the same last Monday too. About 5x this came down, not including the skinny bits not worthy of a chainsaw. Those are LIMBS in the picture, not whole trees. The smallest oak is about 4' across the trunk at chest height and prolly 60' high.

Drawing bows is all about muscle memory. I've seen guys half my size pull strings I couldn't even move. kahn was right 45#-55# is good but I like to err on the side of less, lest you break your arrows. Hunting turkeys, pheasants, etc. is fun because you can use the feathers to learn to make your own arrows. Pretty much use the entire animal for something. Leave nothing to waste.

Edit: if your having troubles pm me and I'll show you a simple push up to build memory for stuff like that.

pretty bad. we had a range of 100s of lbs of mini-limbs to full on 100 foot oak trees droping in my area. super stupid heavy wet snow.

me? lost power for 18 hours. no explanation why, and then 4 hours more the next week when they did additional voluntary repairs.

i had some friends without power for 65-70 hours. nice.

one of those honda 2000w inverter personal generators would be cool. $800 for 9 hours of fridge power at 1 gallon.

i've noted a few times that worcester and hartford got hit a few times with tornadoes perhaps even worse than some places down south.

on the drive to Vonore, TN, i noted multiple places hit hard along the highways. don't know why but roads seem to suck tornadoes in.

mmm, hartford. well, exit 65 :) Rein's deli :>

see, usually by the first snow, trees don't have leaves. then the snow is not bad. however, heavy wet snow? soft trees? not hardened to cold? bad. very bad.

wow, that's a ton of wood. i'm looking at this early snow storm's bright side = lots of firewood by next summer! i can now camp practically anywhere...chopping heaven. i'll probably do a lot more overnighters next year just because of this one freak snowstorm.

I just realized that tradewater is the pimp puppetmaster pulling all the strings in Barlow. Wayne Whittaker is just a figurehead.

Wayne Whittaker is the hat. Thought you knew that?

That's why he was runnin' for alderman, and not mayor. To much pimp in the mayor's seat, and Trade would have been ousted by the Barlow Secret Police.

Can't have that, so, alderman it is.

Ha. Hunting. With a bow. I'd be lucky to not go to jail for that.

If you want to hunt here in Germany, you have to own your own land, get a license for hunting and for owning the required firearm(s) and pay a monthly fee plus extra for every kill. It's not a way to feed yourself if you're dirt poor, it's an extremely expensive hobby.

Hunting with a bow is a big no-no here, even if you do have a hunting license. Not saying I wouldn't do it, I'll probably try to get some small game this fall/winter, rabbits, squirrels, maybe some birds. Can I even kill these critters with field points? Broadheads are classified weapons here, you need a license for those.

one should certainly be able to staple them to the ground, for quick dispatch later, barring a head shot.

seems like if you had to feed yourself, breaking the law is a minor issue, but being quiet is important. hidden trap lines. that kinda thing.

Its been a long time since I got out shooting, I think its time for some zombie jack rabbit hunting...
