Yeah. The day that me and the tradewaters paddled in that area, I scouted that spot by land.
The inside has been cordoned off, but you can poke around outside to your heart's content.

Biggest knife whore here = clich. Not counting our mods who sleep on a lumpy bed from all the Beckers horded under it.

I wanted a sheath to fit my modded Trams and my Old Hickory "machete" so I took a shot at making one. It was fun doing it, and it even works :)

Thanks Dubz, I'm a horribly shitty leather worker, but I couldn't find anything to fit it. I sewed for two hours. I don't see how good sheathmakers do it.......

Shit, better than I could do.

racing: i'd slap both those perverts on their behinds, nut the next guy, and proceed. would 100% be a gentleman of honor to my fellow racer :)

so tonite, i found a polymerized SKS... ready to go for some HOT HOT HOT SKS action action action. awesome. cheap too. hopefully i have time to pick it up this week :> oh yeah. lots of reading going on right now learning all the lore in as short a time as possible. sweet. maybe someday i'll buy an AK, but the SKS is first. then a finnish moist-nagant. gots to have them all.

what you guys doing? playing minecraft?

Hey Trade it looks good to me. Does it work? Do you like it? Well then there ya go. Good job on it bro!!

Imagine making one with a double stitch on the welt for a BK9. Granted you get faster with time but it still takes a lot of time to hand stitch all that.

Here is a little something I just finished up for a fella.

Nice

Sounds like my new toy. I traded a Makarov pistol for this SKS. I have had Russian and Chinese before but this is my first Yugo. It came with a polymer stock too. I have not fired it yet,I hope it works. I hear the gas valves for the grenade launcher can be problematic and make it not cycle correctly.

What magazines do you like? I have had so many crappy detachable magazines for the SKS. I just picked up this tapco polymer 20 round mag that seem to have a good reputation online.

I need to find time to get out to the national forest and try this thing out,I hate taking my AK or SKS to the local range.

mine will have the ATI stock: black, not teh camo gheyness: http://www.atigunstocks.com/p-76-sks-desert-digital-fixedfolding-ultralight-stock.aspx

as well, http://www.murraysguns.com/sksown.htm i'm told might be required. slam fires. mmm.

i belive mine is a M59/66A1 which includes night sights and grendade launching. no bayonet though.

gas valve. if it's to the right, you're in gas/semi-automatic mode. up, and it's grenade/single-action (bolt action) mode. apparently you can get much more accurate shots that way.

add a bolt buffer.

you can find a replacement bolt area cover that includes rails for optics. see amazon. i'll let you know what i find out. i see you have a foreward rail, might be useful for a scout setup.

you can also replace the bayonet for a bipod... permanently setup of course... the grenade attachment - some are muzzle brakes, some are not. you can replace it with a USA part to make it more compliant, AND get reduced flash/etc.

you have sling... sight tools are good. cleaning kit (esp boresnake)... time :) lots of time ...

an upgraded SKS is so much better than most AKs. love it. milled receivers. more accurate (longer barrels). modern polymer stocks - tapco makes an AR15 style, and it's NICE. yours looks "compliant" :)

more to come...

Cool, looking forward to seeing how yours turns out. I wish I had the original wood stock but the guy I got it from threw it away.:confused:

Luckily it did come with the original magazine, I switched it out for this tapco but am saving it for sure.

This is the Choat machine & tool stock that is extra long. It feels great. That front rail is a US made tapco part too. I have a red dot I am thinking about playing with on it until I come up with an optics plan.

I had that folding ATI stock on my last SKS. It was fun to shoot folded but I did not like it extended when trying to be accurate. I hope you like it,I have pretty long arms though.

Mine is the A1 model also with flip up night sites too. The are very neat but the phosphorus is pretty weak.

Neat link, like the sound of that firing pin.

http://www.titleii.com/bardwell/semi_auto_faq.txt that's an older dated one, but still referred to, including from this FAQ: http://victorinc.com/SKS-FAQ.html

yours is very similar to what i found. in reading that second link, both rifles are no longer C&R. they might then fail section 18 rules. in particular, having night sights, grenade launcher AND sights, and bayonet automatically become iffy. putting a tapco on makes it potentially illegal (if not federally, then in some states). best to restore original magazine unless you know better.

worse: in theory, the one i'm looking at might ALREADY be illegal to own. dammit. need to find out a lot more. bummed.

i just want to put holes in paper with cool guns :) like the AR 5.7 :>

eta: btw, if you're not sure, you MIGHT want to fix your posts... and delete photos. and ... i'm checking with another independent dealer tomorrow, and two gun nuts i know that are much better versed than i am.

You guys outta think about getting your type 3 FFL C&R license. Discounts on all the C&R guns and shipped right to your door. $30 for 3 years and the license takes about 2 weeks to get.

On the note of weapons, I believer I will be getting a Howa 1500 bolt action 223Rem pretty soon. I have my 308, but for some reason, I'm wanting a bolt action.

That is all.
