ha. well.
It's a collaborative side-project. So I've prolly made half a dozen and shown exactly none of them.
There's a bunch of stuff going on in the background here. Nothing fast, but some progress bit-by-bit.

I see, well i look forward to seeing them if and when you do show them.

Trade, that is gorgeous! It's a shame that BHK went under but I'm curious to see what comes out of this.

Until the pothole she ran beautifully, I was actually getting compliments on how well she was running. She would throw you back in your seat from a roll at 30.

This is a good time to break the streak and show those bad boys!

Now, that does sound like something we need to see pictures of.

Unfortunately, we sold it several years back before we became an ESD when we were really hard up for money. We found some fire truck collector guy who paid us something like $8-9K for it. We used the money to buy a "new" truck - a 1980 Ford 10 yard dump truck and a used 2000 gallon tank to make into a tanker. Our department covered 120+ square miles and we only had 1 fire hydrant - outside the water treatment plant. For fires in the far western end of our district, it was a 15 mile drive to get water if Lake Travis was too low to syphon water from the shore (which was most of the time).

Since sunflower seed butter and dark chocolate chips are practically health foods, I figure they cancel out the ice cream and redi-whip, making this sundae effectively zero calories. Excellent.

I'm down for anything that zaps the blooms and the associated pollen.
I realize it sucks for crops and such; on the other hand, I was already starting to get that tickle in my throat and chest from pollen.
Today's rain storm was most welcome as it knocked down the pollen count considerably.

Wish I had two RBK's. Sold my early model to Moose though. I could go with the RBK and a Siegle Jungle knife.

a nice pair

should get me one of those jungle knives

something sounds broken or loose inside maybe the muffler rattling off of something???

Hopefully a pully or one of the accessories on the engine. I wouldn't think the muffler would make that noise with the car sitting still idling. The oil pan isn't dented is it? In any case I'd throw a fit, threaten legal action and lawyer up if need be.

Nope oil pan is brand new (it was put on today.) My friend who works at a shop in Baltimore is saying she thinks if the trans gets flushed it might clear up the noise. She is thinking the pothole may have jarred some junk loose in the transmission and it's clogging the filter.

I'm really not happy. The whirring/groaning/grinding DIDN'T start before the pothole. I was told that "it's normal for a car with 157,000 miles on it"

"normal if YOU have been working on it... though i bet you don't see many past 75,000" -- "how'd you know?" -- "just a feeling"

my last car had 255k on it. drove them myself. engine was like SILK.

only reason i traded in?

heater core failed in Winter. $100 part plus $1000 install. no guarantee they wouldn't deeestroy the dash doing it.

both cats shit the bed, $5000

rear wiper didn't work

sometimes the AWD would "shimmy"

needed new wheels and tires

$200 in body rust :)

and probably the $2000 in other minor issues ;)

yeah.

it should not sound like that.

Years ago I knew a guy that wrecked his car... He paid his 500 deductible, they "fixed" it but when he got it back there was loads of issues with the car and the insurance company wouldnt re-fix it, either they said it wasnt due to the accident.. or maybe they wanted another deductible to do it or something i cant quite remember... But what i do remember is, instead, he totaled it out intentionally and got a new car.

Every now and then I make up some complete totally off-the-wall nonsense about metallurgy/knives/etc and just sit back and laugh 'cause everyone believes it. Bwahahahah!!! Now y'all will never know when I'm yankin' yer chains.... :D

just kiddin'.

i have it on good authority that you are reselling ontario knives with your name on them?

I've never heard of anything like that and I used to work in a lube shop doing tranny flushes and such. But that was 8 years ago and I don't even know what kind of car we're talking about.

I'd look over the pullies and accessories, particularly the low ones that could have been damaged. Or it may be something else damaged rubbing on a pully. Eric the car guy on youtube has a good video on trouble shooting engine noises like that.

Just put in an order for a Ritter RSK MK6 and a CS bushman. When Condor releases the min matagi I'll do a 4-way comparison between the two buchman knives and the two matagis. And some other videos I've been meaning to do like trying out the LHB and SP8 I got from WW. And a which-Becker-should-I-get video, since that seems to be a very popular topic around here. Lost my tripod at some point so I ordered a new one. Wasn't very expensive so I'm not heartbroken. If it ever turns up I'll have a dedicated one for my spotting scope and one for my camera.

Morning.

Sorry to hear about your vehicle Cbear :( hope you get it fixed up.

Nice looking bushcrafter Trade!

Blind Horse split into Battle Horse Knives and L.T. Wright knives. This one is from the Battle Horse side made by Dan Coppins. He does nice work.

Yep. Sure were. Didn't see them within a hundred yards of each other though.

That's sad, I'd thought they parted on good terms. Well, hope it works out for them both and the beauty of the knife world is that there's plenty of room for both of them.

I think they did part on good terms. They just didn't interact a lot and were camped on opposite sides of the property. Kind of like an ex I think. :D
