my CS shovel is old enough to drink - must be time to make a new handle for it.

Psy, that's rough. Truth be told there was a period years ago where I thought about it more days than not. Even sat on the edge of my bed with a loaded gun more times than I can count. As someone who's been in that place I can tell you that I tired my best, successfully, to act normal. And I'm sure your friend likely did the same. Even if there were signs and even if you had recognized them and said something he probably would have convinced you he was fine and things probably would have turned out the same way. (I hope that doesn't sound harsh and it comes across the way I intended it to)

Well, here you go, some of you will find humor in this but I'm so freakin mad I could chew nails in two. I'm STILL looking for a AFFORDABLE alternative for family health insurance. The plan is to quit my job and go self employed. So far I have found nothing less than a 1,000 bucks a month and that doesnt cover a Damn thing until you get a $5000. individual deductable and $7500. family deductable paid. UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!!

I've talked to a couple of dozen so called "Liecensed" agents and some of them have just been downright rude. Well the last one I just got off the phone with just breeched a new level of a$$hole. I called and told him my situation and asked for a quote, get this, he just laughed at me and hung up the phone. How is this acceptable, WTF, is going on that insurance companies became these... Gods that they think they are. Im so pissed I could scream.

Sounds like he did you a favor. Do him one and leave a review on yelp.

I recently ordered a Wetterlings Bushman axe from and online retailer. When I got the axe the head was not in line with the handle. If I hold the head of the axe towards me with the edge facing up and look down the handle the edge is off to the left at least 1/4 of an inch.

Since this retailer has a 100% satisfaction guarantee I requested and was granted an exchange. Today I got the replacement in the mail. They sent me the exact same axe. I immediately got on the phone.

I explained the situation and the guy on the phone seemed a bit embarrassed about them sending back the same axe. He did grant me another shipping label for another exchange but he did put me on hold long enough to talk to someone "more knowledgeable about axes" and he told me the since the axe was hand made there would be slight variances with the axe including slight head imperfections.

Am I being too picky to expect the head of the axe at least be in line with the handle? Would you be upset by this scenario?

I am new to axes and I understand that there will be differences in every axe but this seems more like an improper hang.

I do not want to name the online retailer right now because they do seem willing to help me. Any advise would be a big help.

Jeremy

I've sent back much cheaper axes for similar problems and everyone in the axe subforum said I was being too picky for that particular brand. When the second one was also the same way I got a refund.

If you're not happy with a product you're not happy with a product. No sense trying to force yourself to like something you don't. Especially for that kinda money.

So, today I got irradiated by the BJC Hospital system, care of Nuclear Medicine. Then I pulled into Plaza Tire when I started hearing the noise again today in Angel, and I didn't turn the car off so they could hear it, they drove it onto the rack and were checking it out, when they brought it down Reverse was gone, so they tried putting it into drive and drive it across the shop, it wouldn't go forward either, so we pushed it out of the shop and called Aamco, they took a look at it, first is in pieces in the pan. I'm taking it tomorrow (via AAA tow) to another shop, they are charging $1500 to rebuild it where Aamco was gonna charge me $2450.

Wow. My first inclination is the pothole and the trans were a coincidence or the pothole was the final nail in the coffin for a trans that was about to let go. But I really don't know enough about the whole ordeal to make an accurate guess.

BTW, you kinda glossed over the whole 'irradiated' thing. I'm a bit curious about that...

So today during training we had a course on active shooter incidents and how to respond. Part of the training involves watching actual security cam footage from inside Columbine High School during the shooting 15 years ago. I've seen the footage at a few times as it's an annual course we have to take, but it never gets easier to watch...

On a much lighter note I got my CRKT Doug Ritter RSK MK6 today. Very nice package but I don't feel like taking picks right now as I've had a long day and I need to hit the sack. But it comes with a nice paracord wrap and lanyard, a two-way belt loop for horizontal or vertical carry in multiple positions, and a loop of (cheap) paracord for neck carry as well as a nice cord lock. The sheath is nice and holds the knife very well while not being too difficult to remove or insert the knife. Not sure what material the sheath is but I drug the edge across it a few times and didn't notice any dulling of the blade, could still scrape (not quite shave) hair off my arm. The size is probably right in between a BK11/14/24 and an izula. Not a bad package for $33 USD.

If you wanna wear it horizontal instead of vertical just grab a strip of webbing, wrap it around the sheath and screw a chicago screw into the eyelet.

Yes that would work.. But the reason i want a simple clip is so when im drinking beer i can easily remove the dashi and sheath as one to use the bottle opener. Then it can easily go back on my belt, or top of my pants without having to undo my belt.

Did somebidy say NiteIze clip? :D

Pardon the old cell picture.

Carried my trusty 11 for years like this. It was only supposed to be a temporary fix too. College pack EDC, working in a farm supply store, bailing hay, checking fence rows, working at a warehouse, hiking.... you name it. The little clip is just as tight the day I put it on years ago. That's saying something with my clumsy ass always catching clips on things.

Do you maybe have to go in and "reset yourself", like you do when you first upgrade to gold from a registered user?
There's nothing there to reset. I know how to upgrade my user group, it's just not there.

Actually before the pothole the transmission had no noises, no slipping, nothing at all wrong with it. It wasn't hard shifting in any gear, there was NO nails in the coffin.

As for the other part, I had to interpret for a guy getting an FMRI and a few other tests, I spent about 6 hours in a room with warnings all over it "Danger Radiation" and "Airborne Radioactivity" and "DO NOT ENTER RADIOACTIVE"

Jerry have you upgraded that sheath yet? That's one of the ones that supposedly really dulls the blade if you happen to drag it.

No, I haven't yet and it does dull the blade something awful. I have another 11 sheath floating around, but it is just as old too.

Yea if its been 7 days thats a bit much. I know when i paid for another person's membership it took like 3 days before they could upgrade their user group.

Also i have noticed once the option becomes available, if someone clicks on your username the option to PM will be back even before you actually change the user group and look gold.

Right.

I can only hope you got bitten by a spider while in that room.
Because then you wouldn't have to worry about car troubles anymore. You could just shoot webs and swing from rooftop to rooftop. :D

My first thread on the ESEE forum got locked and two members banned........I'll stick to known ground here Thank you very much.

Well its pretty low class of you to go to another forum and bad mouth the BK16 and you even admit that it was gross abuse! Think before you post thats all we have been asking of you.

Thats good to hear. I may have to give them a try if i cant get a screw on one to work. I just feel more confident with the clip bolted on.

I agree. It'll be a good last resort option if you can't find anything. When I bought it, the TDI clips were out of stock everywhere. I found it at a big box sporting goods store and rolled with it. It has surprised me quite a bit.

PM/email me your mailing addy. My 11 will never fit in its stock sheath again. Which is OK. But that leaves me with a sheath in need of being given away.
