I've been sitting here playing with opening/closing it, and it's getting better already.
Mine snaps open nicely, it just needed a little extra push to snap closed. From what I've read about the #25s, just about any other knife might feel soft in comparison!
I suppose if I cut something messy with it, it'll absorb that, too? This might not be the best knife for fish-gutting then.
Ok great. Thanks for the input. Mine is exactly as you mentioned yours.
I like it Randy.![]()
Yeah, it has a 'dimple' in the blackwood covers making it a 2nd. It's the only user TC Barlow I have left in my assortment and it sees a lot of packaging materials. It finds its way into my pocket very frequently along with a similar covered 66 that I love. One for each front pocket!!!!Dimple Barry?![]()

yes, Charlie did tell me tread very carefully when it comes to trimming the kicks. it can affect the overall fit and finish if you dont
Food for thought, once you remove material it can't be added back. A little goes a long way.
I'm not much of a Barlow guy. I'm a swayback guy. But this knife is stunning. I'm not much of a micarta guy. I'm more of a stag/bone guy. But this knife is stunning.
About four years ago I bought a used 60s era Case Jack knife at a flea market. Because I always wanted a nice pocket knife. When my brother saw that Case, he said "you have to get a Barlow. It's the only real pocket knife".
Well he is a nice brother, so he went out and got me a Barlow with Damascus steel and stag covers. Fast forward and a hundred or so knives I have my second Barlow. I think last years BF knife is so good. I can't believe The
wonderful people who put this together have outdone themselves. This is one cool knife. It's going into the pocket. Did I mention how SHARP this knife is !!!

What did you flush it with?Little sluggish on mine at first also. Flushed/oiled and she's snappy as can be![]()
Wow that is a very detailed and extensive response. I had to keep scrolling! Ha ha!Thanks for the pics everyone, they all look great.
This is very true but ...
...as I was beginning to say in post the above yours, it's true you should be careful but you can add on to the kick of the tang if you weld/braze a bit onto the bottom and hit it with a Dremel to fit. So long as you stopped as soon as you noticed the problem, not filing/grinding the kick for 5 minutes and then checking

I had an old Boker/Remington Camper where the screwdriver /bottle opener blade had snapped an a very talented welder had brazed the broken tip back on. The only way you could tell it had been snapped was by a hairline brass colored gap joining the pieces together. I wish I still had the knife, the braze job was so good it never affected the bottle opener, (I never tested the screwdriver beyond removing staples and some light screwing)
I love that old 512 layer Parker/Edwards damascus they made back in the late 60s . I have an old Case mini Coke Bottle/Swell Center done with the same damascus and it takes a wicked edge, how do you like it?
R8shell, mine has already started to darken from the oil and moisture on my hands. I've never had a natural canvas micarta, let alone one that wasn't polished. This is pleasantly grippy and I foresee a lot of use resulting in a lot change and character in this knife. I took pictures from day one and I doubt it'll ever look the same again.
I better get the family pic together for the Traditional Forum's annual knife.
Another shot....
