Official Beckerhead West Gathering Thread ~April 20th-22nd 2012!

Clich says we get the Rienhart Kuhkri for BW. Also Moose Mentioned sending something special for the event as well.

We need Firewood at the event. We could spend hours rounding it up but It'd be better if we at least brought some.

Alright, It's getting closer to time for this thing!! I'm excited.

EVERYONE: We need firewood. The more the better. Let me know if any of yall happen to have hookups for some firewood, that would be awesome.

I need a volunteer to donate two 10 foot 4x4's for a chopping contest.

I'd like suggestions on favorite beers I am going to try and get a community beer chest goin on fo sho.

I think it would be fun to do a community meal on Saturday night - like a stew or something. Bring something to contribute to a stew, meat, beans, stuff like that. We'll throw it all together and see what happens.

WIDERSTAND: which class would you like to teach. I figure mingo will do one on plants, you should do one too - I like bow drill fires, cordage, or something like that. Whichever you would like to prepare for.

CONTESTS:

Tomahawk throwing - First person to hit target 10 times or so wins.

Fire making contest - First person to burn a string in half. One knife, one ferro rod. Thats IT.

Chopping contest- Lanyards REQUIRED.

and still a maybe but maybe a carving contest of some sort? anyone have any ideas? this could be something that you could work on while chit chatting around the fire... Maybe not even make it a contest just do it for fun. I dunno. I need imput.

CLASSES:

How to find Pitchwood - Led by OREGON FAL'ER

Edible plants - By Mingo (unless you don't want to)

I'll put up the cash for the 4x4's.

Maybe someone a little closer to the event grounds can get in touch with me and I'll send em the cash and they can pick up the 4x4's??

Or if that doesn't work I'll just haul them down from WA.

I work at a home improvement center, so I get a discount. I'll bring them and you can pay me for them at BW. Sound good?

I dont have plans for a class per se but I can help folks out with sharpening questions and maybe do something around the campfire if folks want.

Looking good. Me and the WierdBeard are putting together a goody box fo' ya.

Awesome! I'm very excited for this gathering, thank you!!

i'll be there in spirit. lurking in the ferns.

For beer you can't go wrong with a bunch of cheap beer like Miller or something like that and if people want fancy beer they can bring there own.

I'm sure Mingo would be into that since she is a great cook, ill make her chime in on this something, maybe a stew or something with wild edibles that are gathered on her Saturday afternoon plant walk.

Mingo will do a plant walk Saturday afternoon. Say noon-ish?

As for me I would love to do bow drill fires, my only problem with those would be the location of this gathering which is in a very unnatural fir tree plantation which is not very conducive to those things.

Same go with cordage but ill bring some good natural materials for that, enough for everyone.

I think getting a small group of people together late Saturday afternoon and building a super shelter or a few would be fun.
-Some large clear plastic is needed by anyone that would like to par-take.

One idea for a fun contest would be making an improvised slingshot and having shooting contest.

I would love to go but I'm having to wait on a film crew to be done with what they are doing so I can do what I need to do...I will see if I can work around it and get back to you asap.
