Official KITH Photo Thread

Here is my entry (Stacy to post photos), drop point, 3/16 ATS-34, overall length is 7 3/4, blade is 3 1/4. Heat treat was done by D. Holder. Handle material is black Micarta with Colby pins. I made the sheath using Chuck Burrows DVD. I hope whoever gets it uses it and enjoys it.

Thanks to all the blade members who have shared their knowledge over the years and thanks to Stacy for doing this once again!!!!

Handles are glued on my Plan B. Should be shaped and at least mostly finished this weekend. Then there's the sheath...

OK, knifemakers....lets get them finished and the photos posted. Dec 1 is comming in two weeks.

The knife is done but I still have to do a sheath for the KITH.

I've always wanted to make a Nessmuk the way I think that one should be. This
is Plan B, because I did have some more ambitious hopes for this year (that
may get tested until it breaks since I blew it cosmetically).

In my opinion a Nessmuck must be thin, light and sharp. That was George
Washington Sears' whole point in describing the knife.

In addition, I love the natural curves the of the design and prefer that the
handle enhance those curves. I intentionally washed out the grind lines
because it looked better that way.

For no justifiable reason, I prefer carbon steel and native American woods.
In this case I cheated a little bit by using an air hardening carbon tool steel
and stabilized wood. Oh well, no one's perfect :o

So here it is:

3/32 A2, full flat grind
Lightly spalted curly maple handle stabilized by K&G

Dan, that is a really nice looking blade:thumbup: The smooth transition plunge is different, I like it.

Nice work.

I've always been kind of neutral on nessmuk's (don't hate em but don't love em), but that on is really nice. I would be glad to add it to my collection.

I'll talk to Stacy since you want it so bad:DNOT-Seriously thanks:thumbup:Regards Butch

And thank you Nathan!

Ok, so here she is. I'll be finishing the sheath this weekend, have to run into town and buy some leather dye.

OAL 9 1/4"
Blade 4 1/2" 440c
Butt cap and guard are 360 brass
Handle was made from an old fireplace mantel that was in my brothers house. Amazing what was under that old white paint...lol.
I also added a little file work to the top of the blade.

Hope whoever get it is pleased. This is my 2nd year participating in the KITH, and I must say that I look forward to this more than any other gift I receive at Christmas....lol...shhhh....don't tell the better half!

Well, I guess I'll have too send the pics to Stacey, because the little attachment thingy isn't here anymore.
So the pics are coming!

Nice one jasperdog. I know exactly what you mean about the KITH knife being your favorite Xmas gift.

Here is my contribution to the 2010 Knife In The Hat Christmas exchange. There are a lot of very nice knives in here already, and I can't wait to see the rest. Anyway, here's mine, it is a drop point hunter/skinner it has a 154 CM blade, hollow ground in 24 inch diameter, 3 1/2 inches long and 1 3/8 wide. The handle is 4 1/2 inches long of cross cut spalted Alaskan birch, stabilized and with an oil rubbed finish, it has one coat of wipe on poly for a little more durability. I hope you like seeing it and I hope whoever gets it also gets many years of pleasure with it. Merry Christmas to all!

Hey guys these are looking incredible! And for that reason I think I'm gonna back out. These are all way out of my league. Maybe next year I'll feel more comfortable adding a knife to the hat but this year I think I would be doing a disservice by participating.

Keep the pictures coming, absolutely beautiful!
