Official PSK Challenege - With Giveaway!!

Sounds good guys this could be a great resource after everyone has posted their thoughts and pics. Hopefully a lot of people get involved...

Sounds like a great idea  I've been trying to assemble a PSK myself during these past couple of months, maybe i'll have the time to give it a try this month.

Well, i was going to head out at 2330 hours tonight and spend the night over on the North Shore, but with over 150 mm of rain in the 6 hours, and even worse overnight, heck no!. There road closures, some are under a foot of water.

:(

........
- I am a firm believer in mindset and skills before gear. If you carry a basic kit because your skills and knowledge are excellent, don't fret. As long as you can 'get it done' with what you have you will be well on your way to a great prize. I will not be judging based on who has the 'coolest' kit.........

..... Good luck and any questions....just ask!![/b]
Some questions if I may.

As I don't carry a dedicated PSK, but rather a First Aid Kit that has a very small fishing "kit" and some 3 ply cardboard (soaked in soft white paraffin as an emergency fire starter), will this qualify for the competition?

Would links to previous multiday wilderness trips over the last three years(with pics) qualify as evidence of "being able to get it done"?

These trips include evidence of outdoor skills including; being able to find drinking water during a drought, being able to make tools and shelter as required and making use of available plants for food?

Let me know what you think.

Kind regards
Mick

Would have been a great time for a debris shelter! :D

Your kit is just fine but the pics need to be current.

Thanks for the response.

Ah well, family and work commitments pre-Christmas unfortunatley will have to rule me out of this one.

Aw man I'd love to do this with my brother! It's too bad I won't be home until January. We might have to go do it then anyway!!!

I'd love to take just my basics out along with my appropriately named Bark River PSK out for a night of roughing it.

Nice pics, Boomstick, I wonder how long til someone reposts them all?:D
Liking the battleship idea.

I received the 1st place prize in the mail today. It is MUCH nicer than I expected!! You guys are in for a treat!

I'm still in, this coming weekend I'm going hunting with my friend. I'll use one of the days to mess with just my PSK stuff and my EDC. I can't wait to get out there, I've been couped up in my apartment and classes a bit too long.
