Soooo Its official, my spot on the hill is up for grabs. I am changing jobs that week and they cant afford to allow me to be off for those days.....
Spring gather here I come.
 
Lightweight! I gave up a 26 mile hike to come to Ethan's and eat and drink! :p

it's 30 dF in the northern tier, expecting 25 maybe? by sunrise...

i can't speak to TN, but nobody ever suffered for preparing :)

It only got to 40° last night out in the tent here. I've never done any cold weather hammocking, this could be a learning experience!
 
I'm planning on having a sleeping bag inside the hammock... Not sure how this is going to work out but it is an experiment.

Never used a hammock before. Wife and I went camping last year around Halloween, and it got down to 23°. We were in a tent. We knew it was going to get cold, and prepared for it.

You'll be good. We will cover your hammock with stretch wrap and duct tape for you, just to make sure.

That's the idea. It's called a "bag worm". Makes a great youtube. Not as good as a "white elephant" though. That's where you wake up naked with only a can of shaving cream.

trust me, if you want any kind of appetite at the gathering, the white elephant is NOT a good idea.
 
I'm hoping I get to make it, not sure what my work schedule will be.

i hope the weather holds up . i dont mind the cold i just hate the rain . the moose had better be there too !

I dont have the underquilt and all that, but I lay on top of the patrol bag and use the heavy one to cover with. I have used that down to 19 and stayed warm.

That's a good plan! It's gonna be complicated drunk though. Oh, the woman will be in attendance, but won't be there till Friday. So I'll be switching to tent mode Fri.
 
All these elaborate plans are funny. You know everybody will just wind up sleeping under a pile of leaves or in a lawn chair.....
