Official SURVIVE! picture thread

ohhhh nice!!
I like the fero notch too. Wishing mine had one

Thanks bud. I traded this 4.1 last year to a friend that never used it so I recently bought it back. You might be able to send it in to have a ferro notch added.

I didn't realize the Tarahumara had pickets on the side. Is that a new acquisition? Great pack, great blade!
Thanks bud! I couldn't pass up the deal on this pack plus I missed the one I used to own. The side pouches are great for water bottles.

Id like to see the inside of the pack. Any pockets?

There aren't any pockets inside, but it does have a sleeve in the back panel. I'll shoot some photos when I get back home for you.

It's a good sized day pack with plenty of attachment locations. They do have a molle panel for the inside sold separately.

GSO 3.5 CPM-3V w/ Black DLC. First run #81. 3 Colour Camo G-10 handles, black oxide fasteners.

Couple pics before it goes back into the safe.

Been shooting a whole new set with the 4.7 for that cooking thread I've been threatening :D

What do you typically cook in when enjoying the outdoors?

Franks and beans, bratwurst, eggs and bacon, bacon and sausage, and bacon and spam.
I still want to try making cornbread on a cast iron skillet some day.

rswanson,
Those look like the textured handles... Are they? How are you liking them.

Nice steel on Stihl action, there. :D

I'm not positive to be honest! I should email Survive! and ask. I don't have a frame of reference as this is my only S!K knife. The scales are much more textured than the micarta on my ESEE. I see small raised areas in comparison to another recent posting showing the same natural micarta scales on a 4.7. But then, I've seen other, older pics where the texture looks similar to these scales.

Regardless, the handle is fantastic. I used the knife for a good 3-4 hours this past weekend, sometimes in the rain. Even with bare hands the grip was so sure and the scales so well contoured that I forgot about the handle entirely. For me, that's the hallmark of good grips.

Steel on Stihl- that's great! I'm going to "steal" it (groan). The GSO, the saw, and a Fiskars splitting axe made for the perfect wet weather camping combination. We had to restart our fire several times due to periods of rain and making kindling was fun with the GSO. I'm working on a review thread with plenty more pics!
