Official SURVIVE! picture thread

Are you sure? It doesn't look very curly. Maybe it's actually stripey walnut?

Regardless, you are one talented man and have the market cornered for wood handles for GSOs.

Have you made handles out of oak before?

Silver,
It's actually feather/crotch walnut, but that brings out the juvenile 4th grader jokes....

Anyway, yes about the oak. It was actually stabilized ancient bog oak on a 3.5. I would like to do something out of a nice oak burl. Just don't see too many guys ask for it.

Hahaha, I wouldn't dream of joking about something like that :D

Cool news about the oak!

Sure is. Been learning trad for about a year now, still not comfortable leading much, but it's great to get outdoors and on some (real) rock.

Awesome! I love clipping bolts and falling a lot, but trad gets me to the places (both physically and in my head) that I love the most. Seneca is a great place to develop trad skills. I also REALLY like the Endless Wall at NRG. Some of the single pitch trad there is simply world class.

It is great to see another climber here! Cheers!

Yeah, climbing hard is fun and all, but there is something about trad that has really grabbed my attention.
Cheers!
