My thoughts are with you, JD.

off topic photo I took today while visiting in PA at my BIL/SIL's house. Had the "family camera" Nikon DSLR in my hand, as I'd seen a red-bellied woodpecker at the feeder and was hoping to get a photo of it. Picked up something in my peripheral vision and, before I had a chance to go look, heard it - they have a very distinct call - and knew exactly what it was:

Thank goodness for digital cameras. Took an absolute excess of pictures, but got a couple good shots, I think. Still learning how to use it (tho I had a Minolta X-700 35mm SLR for more than 2 decades), but mainly it's just so cool being able to shoot as many photos as I want - without thinking about film costs, developing a bunch of crappy photos and all the other things that limited photography for me all these years gone by.

Here's another shot, at the feeder where I'd seen the red bellied woodpecker - tho the pileated made my day. I see animals and birds all the time (saw a huge red fox sitting in the street a couple weeks ago, i.e.), but rarely have a nice camera in my hand when I do.

I've been stressed out these last couple of weeks, my mom had cancer in her liver about 10 years ago and had surgery and was fine. Went for a check up because of pain and the cancer came back in her liver 6 months ago, she woke up last week and passed out, she been in the hospital since, she had us worried when I got a call about her possible passing, we went to be by her side and she's gotten a little better, cancer spread to her brain and had 1st round of chemo last Friday. Please pray for her recovery. Sorry to bring bad news but thought I'd share with my Beckerhead family.

I'm sorry to hear about your mother, JD. I will certainly pray for her.

Doc

Hang in there JD. Hope everything turns around for her. You never know, so positive vibes man.

Good luck, JD, I know exactly what you're going through. :-/

Lake is frozen enough to hold this fresh snow all the way across. Ice fisherman are setting lines this morning, about 100yd from shore. No huts or trucks out there yet.

Not relevant to anything... Or is it?

A couple weeks ago the nursery where i "work" had some trees/limbs fall and they made a mess.. Destroyed some plants... Ripped up the ground mats and broke some irrigation sprinklers...

A large water oak limb came down on this lime tree... It used to be over 4' tall and produced limes last season... Broke all major branches off and split that "V" trunk...

Boss says... You can throw it out... It won't make it...

I brought it home... Cut back the rough breaks leaving only about 18" of the tree...and wrapped the V trunk tightly back together... Planted it in the ground with some osmocote.. And Kept it moist.

A couple weeks later...

Just because someone, even a pro in their field, says something doesn't have a chance, that doesn't mean it should be discarded or forgotten... Sometimes a little love can work magic..

Give me a call if you need somebody to talk to JD.
We're all here for you brother.

Hang in their JD, the days have more light ahead

GSOM: those Pilleated woodpeckers are great... for pie ;). lots of my dead trees are a direct result - lots of peckers ;)

big storm for MA coming but NH is looking at nothing :D

osmocote - gotta get some of that for my wood

Haha! Bladite Osmocote is great stuff but I'm not sure it makes a suitable Viagra replacement. :D

That couch is his bed... I put it right next to my bed. Now he doesn't try and sneak into bed with us all night long.

Just spent a whole day with my father at the ER. This morning his chest was aching so we went to see the doc, who immediately sent us to the ER.
Verdict after a day of waiting and test: atrial fibrillation. Or atleast that's what google translate told me what it was in English. His heart is racing at 150bpm which obviously has several risks. He has to spend the night now while being monitored and tomorrow they'll do some more testing and maybe give him an electric shock.
Hope all will go well and we'll be able to take him home tomorrow.
