No problem, Tony. Wasn't trying to over-ride your answer but I was just thinking it might bring more to this thread if we allow custom sheathing to be part of this. Agree?

Texastonydobbs: Are the fishing-kit/match-container secure enough in those straps? I would be a little worried about losing them along the way...

Snug as a bug..... the tension I am sure over time will deminish but for now works great. If I did not think it was secure enough I would not do it,PSK is no good if components are missing .I am looking at expanding this kit with other Maxpedition small pouches,I did use the strap to hold my Fire steel and striker before I had a kydex firesteel holder made never worried about my firesteel, :D Thanks TTD

Tony, that DMT sharpener looks difficult to use. Am I wrong? Do you use a special technique? I use an EZE-LAP model M round rod.

:) Sorry, I like it,light weight and to me easy to use,it is 325 grit. touch up only.I like the EZE lap model M as well,I am looking to pick up one as well.I am always building kits .

...and if it's part of your sheep raping kit, post that too!

Here is my PSK work in progress.

It is a naglene water bottle filled with: Light My Fire Army Steel, dryer lint in ziploc bag, 10 small fish hooks also in bag, SureFire G2, combo compass - whistle - magnifying glass, Leatherman Micro, (not included is large 3ft by 3ft cotton bandana).

All of this fits into the bottle, which fits into the soup can which is used for boiling water and cooking soup with fish/wild edibles. The can and bottle then fit inside the handy koozie which can attach either to your pack or to your belt loop. This will give me food, water, and fire and all fits into the very small compact bottle with carrier.

In the background is my Versa-Shelter which includes a wool blanket rolled up with 6' of rope and 25' paracord. Inside the blanket is a 6'x8' tarp with another 25' of paracord, 4 army tent posts, and 2 bungee cords. This Versa-Shelter serves as my tent in many different styles as well as blanket.

I must admit though, that I do not have a RC knife. I am waiting on the RC-6 as soon as it comes out, but I took the stock RC photo off RAT's website and included it in the kit. I'm sure this will disqualify me, but I thought I'd share my kit regardless.

All in all, this kit would allow me to be very comfortable in the woods and I could ditch the Versa-Shelter if needed.

I guess Tony's and Jason's kits have intimidated the hell out of all the survivalists. Surely we have more takers than this on creating survival kits?

That kit requires you to have a laptop, Photoshop and a knife before you go to the woods. If you get into trouble you just turn on the laptop, open up the knife photo and Photshop it on to the deadfall and you have kindling. Works the same way striking a ferro rod. You just have to Photoshop it into the rod and have some photos of sparks to add below that.

I just did a story on a nice kit too!

I am sticking to my original kit idea, KY, Tape, and Rubber Boots.:D

I bet I can get lots of people over here!

So I need to own a Rat knife to get a chance to win a Rat knife? Bummer. Maybe next contest.

We've got plenty of them too. Photo contests, monthly giveaways, etc. and you don't have to own a RAT knife in those contests to win one ;)
