Moin,
I have some more ideas for the ultimate kit.

My list contains
- duct-tape for connecting thinks and repair broken clothes or a tent
- (selfmade) RC knife for disconnecting things, the (not existing) sheath is placed on top of the bag
- mirror: giving signals, looking for wounds on your back or so
- sharpening stick
- full (instant cooking) or empty (need to look for food) tin that can be used for cooking, eating, washing
- extremely loud wistle: ACME Tornado 2000
- fire steel
- paracord
- earplugs, 3 of them, if one disappears; for a nice night in urban areas or next to the loud guy in the tent
- torch with backup batteries
- LM with screwdriver, saw and nippers
- compass
- map of the area you're in or the compass is useless
- safety pins
- shackles and some hooks for connection of things, where the paracord fails or is too unsecure
- lipbalm
- soap
- ointment for treating small wounds
- sunscreen
- thermos bottle
- emergency blanket; in the waterproof bag there are the batteries for the torch
- 2 small and a big first aid kit (Bundeswehr version this time)
- NVA bag, that can carry a (possible) knive sheath on top
- towel, as signal for help and securing you're dry; also it is a good damping, placed in the right way between the other things it portects them from destroying each other
Everything fits to the bag. There is still some room for a bigger towel or so. You only have 2 things to do before going outside: Filling up the water/tea/coffe and attaching the bag to your belt. In that position it is quite easy to reach the knive with one hand.
