  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Old Friends Friday

I thought I'd carry this Old Friend today, a Wheatley Brothers Tackler's Knife kindly gifted to me a few years back by my old friend @Old & In The Way :)

A knife I like that saw a lot of pocket time was my 88 2 dot Camper with the Jigged black comp covers.

This knife saw many years of service replace occasionally by an equal SAK. Eventually the blade was replaced by a Leatherman.

I think today’s a good day to throw it in my pocket.

I have that same knife, minus the blade etch. Bought it at a K-Mart back in the mid-90's, for cleaning trout in the springtime. It was the only knife I had at the time. When I first came to Bladeforums, so many years ago, I was searching for a knife to replace it. I'd tried to sharpen it, but couldn't do it. So I figured I'd just buy a new knife, and bought a ton of them. Years later, I found that old Buck in a drawer in the kitchen, used my newly acquired sharpening skills on it, and gave it a razor edge. If I'd just tried to learn sharpening technique instead of searching for a new knife back then, I might still be pocketing it every day.
