Old Friends Friday

Thinking of these two today... I can at least carry the scout.

This old US Boker, from the early 20th century, is one of my really treasured knives, sent to me by @paulhilborn several years ago. Paul sent it with a Case Zippo, a US Quarter I keep in my wallet, and a charming story (I still have his letter) :) Paul found the knife in an old family-owned shoe shop in the town where he lives. The shop has been there for over 50 years, repairing shoes and boots, jacket zippers, etc, as well as making knife sheaths, canvas tarps, and selling rifles, shotguns, fishing tackle and archery gear - what a great place! Of course, they also sell knives, mainly by Buck. Paul discovered the old Boker there, with a chipped blade, and some rust and pitting. He cleaned her up beautifully, and very generously sent her my way :) Thanks Paul, what a great knife, from a great friend

Fantastic Rachel, love the look of those Boker Barlows :)
Thanks, Jack. That's a fine old Boker, from a fine old friend. ;)
I will join the Boker appreciation camp this fine Old Friends Friday.

Nice!

Awhile back I made a list of traits that I found appealing in a pocket knife. It was quite an elaborate list including things like, dimensions, weight, blade selection, materials and so on. I then determined which knife in my existing collection contained as many of those traits as possible. Even thought there were others that came close, the Schrade 93OT fulfilled more of the criteria on that list than any other knife I had. Recognizing then that it was such a valued friend, that so closely suited my taste, I located an additional Schrade 93 in near mint condition just to set aside. Today for Old Friends Friday both are shown below.

Very useful knife. I'd like to read your list of criteria some day, or have you posted them before?

Nice post, and a very cool pic :)

My cousin gave me this knife... I had a chestnut hj 15 in my pocket that day that I tried to trade him and he wouldn’t do it. Have a good day.View attachment 1041354View attachment 1041355

Thanks John! I have not posted such a list before but since it is the season for personal lists... I'm so glad you asked!:thumbsup:;) Though, rather that derail this wonderful thread the list is now posted in a thread entitled, "What your Criteria (for Choosing a Traditional Knife)". Check it out my friend.
