Old Hickory folder

1075 is hardenable.
All I really know is that I like how my old Hickory knives take an edge, so I'm not concerned in the least.
Just fine for a thin kitchen knife, IMO.
My beloved Okapis are 1055 or possibly 1070 and work just fine for all my EDC and outdoor needs. I rolled the edge a little once trying to cut through a bicycle brake cable guide which I didn’t realize was steel-lined, but a few passes on a medium ceramic rod took care of that. Even on hard woods they seem to do OK.

1075 should be plenty good enough for this knife.

Ok cool, I hadn't seen that they switched steels. Thanks for the info everybody. :)
Honestly, I don't think it really matters since they have always kept the steel fairly soft anyway. 1075 is probably going to be pretty much comparable.

German cutlers have used C75 for decades with no complaints on hardness, so 1075 should be just fine. They can easily obtain the same range of hardness that we are used to, i.e. 56-58 HRc.

If the price is right and the blade is thin behind the edge, I’m interested.

I dont mind 1075 myself, even ontarios. I like this one...but depends on what the price point is gonna be.

Perhaps they mean the closed length? That's usually how folders are described.

Possibly. That would be an awful lot of handle for a little bit of blade, though.

If I zoom on the image until the blade measures 3”, the handle measures just over 4”.

Ah, puzzling. I figure they'll get the specs straightened out once they actually hit the virtual shelves.

Anybody hear any updates about these? I'm looking forward to their release. Hopefully solidly built. I don't care as much about cosmetics, more of worried on the functionality (nice thin edge, no wobble, etc..). Saw a quick Facebook video that makes it look like it has a half-stop and decent pull, which is good.
