Old Hickory folder

I like the profile. Wish they would have shown the back springs in that video, and I'm curious how thin it'll be behind the edge. Pretty interesting. Hope to see it on the streets soon

I will be heading to the big Knife store in TN in a few weeks Lord willing. Hoping they will have one there that I can lay my eyes on, I have been curious about this one as well. I wish they had gone with a regular nail nick though 😕

The hole in the blade and the big text on the side are going to be keeping me away from this knife. It would be interesting to know if anyone ends up preferring this over the sodbuster Jr though.

I have posted an article on the reasons for the switch from 1095 to 1075 steel on the Ontario website. Click on the "Education" heading and then click on the red image for the article.

I looked for it, I can’t find the “education” heading though. Maybe because I am only on a phone?
On my phone I have to open the drop-down menu from the top right of the Ontario Knife Co homepage and then can find the Education section.

Seems like a well-reasoned decision to me, and I appreciate the technical details. Been reading up on the details more lately, previously my impression was, "more carbon = better" for low alloy carbon steels but my mind has been changed. The extra carbide volume in 1095 is going to be totally negligible, neither steel will be used at maximum attainable HRC, and consistently good heat treat with absolutely minimal retained austenite easily outweigh the extra 0.2% carbon.

I like it. Has that rustic charm to it. Looks like it belongs next to the classic boning or butchers knife. Any more fluff and buff and it would look out of place.
