Ontario's webpage lists the handles as "walnut" and "hardwood" FWIW.

does not bother me if they are, use of a good material In an economical way ( to keep production costs reasonable) and still nice looking, just maybe don’t cut costs in fit and finish, this can be a good basic folder, but it needs a little tweaking.

As Mr. mbkr says, the handle scale material is walnut.

It too reminds me of the Otnat from knifeswapper , which is my favorite non-US made Traditional.
