Old Hickory folder

MSRP seems a bit lofty for the fit/finish, but still should make a user. Slabs are chamfered at the bottom but not the top, still not uncomfortable.
Agree, looks like a good user. Thanks for the pictures. For the price I actually see it available for I think it's OK if there aren't major gaps or play and if walk/talk is OK. What's the blade thickness?

Just picked one up on the big river site. I am curious to see how the 1075 does, I like the look of it , but would like to see a more of deeper drop point. The Sod buster still has a classic look.

Those that eventually get this one, can we start reviews if it? And any critiques to make it better or helpful adjustments, Ontario said it was new direction, if it does well, it would be cool to see other blade patterns and a refined handle.

Ok, got mine over the weekend, overall impression is I like it, I like the wood grain of the handle just fine, edge is a working edge which I touched up with my strop bat, unfolding it is a little rough, need to work the action a little and apply some balistol. While I like the hole to open it I could see a nail nick being better so the angle to the point could be more subtle and slimmer, to give it a more thinner profile. Overall I like it.62F680D7-24AA-4373-8896-DD296AEE663C.jpegC6B57E8F-C0B5-4C00-B706-66120A73F837.jpeg35FF751D-F149-4992-8803-54537FD35F4A.jpeg

I got mine for ten less on the big river site, compared to the other site I use which is a vendor here , and I get free shipping, so about 30.00. I think it is worth it., but the other site has it staring about 38.00.

$30 doesn’t seem too bad. Maybe more than it is really worth, but not outrageous. I was seeing I think around $50 on the big river this morning - and now they’re gone anyway…

Solid build and decent materials are far more important to me than the looks (which I strangely like on this anyway). The price doesn't seem bad to me for a made in the US folding knife of this size, if they are made functionally well of course. I'd much prefer a strong, sharp ugly knife to a beautiful safe queen with blade wobble, off center (rubbing) blades, and weak springs (all of which I have gotten more than once with GEC and Case).

Sunday deliveries?! Who knew?

I like this a lot. Pull a 6-7. Pinchable. Good snap. Zero play. Walk is rough. Seemed to have oil on it, but I put a couple of drops of Birchwood Casey synthetic on it and worked it a few times. I didn't flush it, which I probably should have, but it does seem smoother already. Blade is mostly centered. Doesn't hit either liner. No gaps at all. Zero light peeking through. The grinds are acceptably even. Sharp enough to pop a hair here and there, but not shaving sharp by any stretch. Preliminary evaluation is this is a well made, solid, pocket knife.

I paid less than $30 delivered and at that price I think its a steal. Thinking I should have ordered a half dozen for gifts. OTOH, reading some of the posts, maybe Ontario's QC is a little uneven. Anywho, without further ado...Pics!

The spring is flush when closed. Just a little not-flush when open. Spun pins (?).

Reminded me of my LionSteel Bolus Otnat

With a GEC 88 because I used the 88 to open the box...

I'm very pleased :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
Hope this is a precursor to more USA made Ontario slip joints.

I ised a little WD40 on the hinge, helped a bit, I wiped the excess on the handle and then wiped down with a cloth. Not sure if the WD40 did it but looks darker on the part of the wood scale near the pivot pin then further down the handle. Maybe just the grain look or a finger smudge.

Mine has been handy at work and on trips. Still stiff when opening and closing. I like it, still not as classic looking as a Sodbuster, but very practical and I like the wood look. I think the wood is pakawood or some kind of laminate 9wood and resin), please correct me if I am wrong, go that one from the knife Center video.

Ontario's webpage lists the handles as "walnut" and "hardwood" FWIW.
