Old John Primble Knives & Belknap Hardware History

Case has recently gone to the same style magnets in some of their display's. I've bought a couple of their new knives lately which were attached with magnets - however the magnets were mounted on the display board, not attached to the blade. OH

Thank you Gevo - you got it down exactly and much appreciated. Glad to see you hangin' around the porch again. ;):)

It feels like something is missing when you are busy with other things.

Why thank you, my friend. That means a lot to me!!

I want to thank members wlfryjr (Lyle) and Old Hunter (Bruce) for some very nice gifts, which they mailed to me recently. I will begin with Lyle, since I received his first.

Lyle sent me a beautiful John Primble Belknap Peanut, with some seriously nice patina : 👍:)

In today's mail - I found an envelope from Old Hunter, which contained a very special coin and an Old John Primble Belknap Box, which he seemed to think I should have, since it had my nick-name on it. The coin was for the knife he won in my recent GAW. He had acquired the coin in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, where he spent time during his military service with the U.S. Army National Guard. A very special coin indeed !!:)

and the two gifts combined - which will be added to my old Primble collection. Thank you so much gentlemen!!👍👍:)

Bruce - I also enjoyed your letter and I guess Blade Forums can teach an old dog new tricks, as you have recently learned and I have learned some new tricks myself.

Thank you again to both of you - you are both very fine members of Blade Forums. 👍:)

Fantastic- good deeds deserve good returns my friend.
Well done Lyle and OH, fantastic stuff here!

Mark - the Neo magnets are super magnets - they hold the knives firmly in place. As Waynorth mentioned early on - the main limitation is that you need to display blades up and I also found that the pile side blade needs to be opened and used with the magnets. Otherwise, the bottom of the knife kicks out too much. You can see on the stockman style knife on the far right top row, I ended up using the magnets on the sheep foot blade instead of the main clip blade. Not a big deal at all - I really like the whole concept of the magnet board.:)

You can hang them with the mark side blade, Rob.
Just stack the magnets up to flatten the knife. Some of mine have 3 magnets stacked!

Now why in the world didn't I think of that ??!!:confused::o

Many thanks Charlie - I will rectify that Stockman knife tomorrow!!:D

Sometimes the US Postal Service amazes me; that packet was mailed late this past Monday afternoon - already in Kentucky! Primble, great picture of the box and coin - I can see more detail in the coin in your photo than I could in my hand; my thanks again for the wonderful stag Case knife - trying to make myself carry it (might have to take a back-up knife to do any hard use cutting work that pops up!) OH

That Case would make a fine carry knife OH - it is up to you of course!!:)

Oh mate you should have told me- I had hundreds of them - burnt them the other day!

Never ever never ever in a hundred years would Duncan have done that.:eek::barf::barf::D

I feel another Primble crushing GAW thread coming from you and your followers. ;):D

I failed to mention that inside the box that OH sent me was a yellow wrapping paper with the Belknap knife instructions printed on it. Very old looking and very COOL. ;)

Ok Primble, please post a picture if you would:cool: I love the literature that comes in the vintage knife boxes:thumbup:

The old paper looks a little shinier in the picture and not quite as old looking as in real life:

Just splendid additions to the Primble Caboodle!! Fine gifts indeed Lyle and Bruce! Well done...very well done.

I love the old instruction paper as well!

Thank you Primble, just everything about your collection, display, boxes, history, instruction sheet, placement of the display and how it came to be is splendid:thumbup:

Thank you for this thread, very enjoyable to see & read:)

That's really cool, both the box and the paper! The stuff that could have easily been just thrown away back in it's day, but is so desirable to us knife nerds today.
