"Old Knives"

Very nice knife Gus!

This Remington R3843 popped up on eBay last week for a very low BIN. Arrived today and surprised it had a case with it as seller never mentioned it having one, it did explain the verdigris shown in his pictures. Knife appears new, never used, I took pictures without even wiping it down as I wanted to record the condition as found.

veitsi_poika veitsi_poika I actually dream of fantastic knives or a forgotten stash like yours  Then I awake and harsh reality confronts me  at least here's this thread to escape into
Thank you very much Will, I really do appreciate the great compliment :) When I first got hooked on pocket knives, I would buy pretty much any cheap and interesting knife I could find. But after a while I really got interested in the history behind them all, and specifically the top American cutlers along with the well known makers/suppliers from England and Germany. The dynamic between them all is very intriguing to me. The past several years now, my focus has been mainly on those "Old Knives" so this thread is my sweet spot :D It's just amazing to see what everyone else finds too, I am truly at home here ;) I have honestly only purchased (2) brand new knives in the last 10 years... the Bladeforum Buck stockman a couple years ago and a Marttiini birch handled lockback with a woodcraft style blade on it. Any other new looking knives that I have posted were purchased by my wife LoL. Occasionally she will find one she bought a few years ago that has been tucked away a drawer somewhere and give it to me saying "oh I meant to give this to you for your birthday". But she didn't... she bought them all for herself and then got buyers remorse LoL  This one though, she handed to me a week ago and I told her that this was a really good find... Thomaston Knife Co was a pretty respectable cutler back in the day and it's not easy to find many of their knives in good shape. My wife got a "gold star" for this one and I guess I got a belated Christmas gift :D
