Thanks for the extra pics, Rob!!Challenge had some beautiful cocobolo, combined with the shield and the big fat clip it makes a handsome jack. From that era, It's the most well preserved knife in my collection.
Here's a couple of shots in shade that show the grinds better. Still a little oil smudge on the mark side. Thanks for the compliment, Charlie View attachment 2098524View attachment 2098533
I see these shields or similar iterations I automatically think Camillus manufactured whether or not. Thanks for the extra pics, Rob!!
Here's an interesting comparison!!View attachment 2098987View attachment 2098988View attachment 2098991
Challenge made knives from 1891 to 1927 in Bridgeport. I suspect Camillus made the Challenge brand knives after that, if not before!!I see these shields or similar iterations I automatically think Camillus manufactured whether or not.
Agreed!! Some nice details!!Rare beauties, Charlie, looks like the Sword Brand was a higher level of finish than the regular 4 line stamp.
I also have a Cattaraugus that is almost identical to this knife.

I haven't been very active the past 6 to 8 months, I've missed some great knives! I'll share a few additions to the collection.
This pair of cattle knives were posted in the round up thread shortly after their arrival, they belong here as well.

The Camillus is close, shorter swedge, longer pull and different bolsters, pin placement and shield are identical, cocobolo very similar. Thanks for posting those, Charlie. Beautiful group of CamillusThanks for the extra pics, Rob!!

It feels great in hand, I'm tempted to carry it, just not sure I want to walk around pulling my pants up all day. ThanksNice bone on that one.
Love that Ulster jumbo!
Nice EmpireInteresting Empire I picked up recently. Nice bone and solid snaps all around. I thought it had an interesting selection of tools.
Thanks Charlie, I was wondering about what they might have called it, not exactly a scout knife.Nice Empire- I think they called that a "picnic" knife!!
I have a soft spot for Empires - that's an old one, from when car headlights were crude!!
I like the corkscrew. It looks like it was milled and/or ground rather than twisted from rod like a modern corkscrew. Beautiful pick-bone too!Interesting Empire I picked up recently. Nice bone and solid snaps all around. I thought it had an interesting selection of tools.
