"Old Knives"

I read the article, and had one question. The stag handled knives have a bail and a lanyard hole. Does anyone know why they have both a bail and a lanyard hole? John

John, couple reasons I would think, one is if the bail was to break you could use the lanyard hole, the other possibility is you could use the lanyard hole for a lanyard and still hang the knife from a clip with the bail. Maybe Herder has a better explanation.

Wasceg - man that's a neat ol' Knife!

I can just see some of that stunning art work on the older Remington Posters they made in the day ( and worth Gold now), of a Guy and his son Fishing on a River Bank, the Dad holding that Knife desperately cutting the line as a Grizzly has the Trout in his Mouth that the Dad was pulling up lol
Those posters are amazing- and that Knife took me straight to thinking of them :) They were always great action scenes - although this poster was for the Remington Bullet Knife- I just saw this type of image

This ebony Jack showed up today. Marked Wismar Cutlery Co. Germany. Bigger than a Peanut, at 3 3/8" long; I guess it'd be called a Dogleg Jack? After cleaning 100 years worth of pocket lint out of it, plus a liberal application of oil, the blades snap pretty well. The ebony is really nice, aside from a little pin crack on the butt end. What look like other cracks in the pictures are actually cat hairs that must have been on the rag when I wiped oil on the covers. 😌

Nice knife there Rachel, lot of life left in that one.

 Sweet Ol’ Ebony there R8shell

Thanks, guys. I'm definitely going to sharpen it and put it in my pocket. I'm considering filing the kick to drop the pen blade a tiny bit, making the main blade's pull a little easier to get to. I'll carry it a little while to decide if that's necessary.

Looking for any input on this knife. Thanks. Pretty sure this was my grandfathers knife. Might predate the 1970,s at his time of death. I think it goes back even further
