My goodness, it's been so hard to keep up with the forum this past week or so. Thank you for pointing out your posting from just a few pages back! I'm not any kind of Schrade expert either, but I would bet that our two knives were made in the same place.Nice Old Ebony R8shell - always love seeing your posts of you picking up these older Beauties, it's funny as you must have influenced me because I picked up a old Ebony Hibbard Spencer & Bartlett Jack a wee while ago- just to bang into my pocket.
Interesting that you are asking about the Shapleigh Tang Dates, I posted this Knife in post #24,535 ( page 1227 ), no one has answered about the dates.
Your Shapleigh Tang Stamps are the same as this Knife. Would it be safe to say that these are Schrade Cut Co made knives? I took a wild guess that my Knife is around mid 40's? I am far from a Schrade expert.
Our Knives seem to be close enough to the same age R8shell - it would be interesting to see a chart of Shapleigh Tang Stamps for era used.

Thank you for that info, Augie!Nice knives Rachel, Duncan, the DE's are made by Schrade Cut Co and I would put them 1930's into the 1940's.
Beautiful finds Augie! I think the reason you have two different stamps on the Mayer is that one of the blades has been replaced. You can see where they botched up the bolster a bit in their attempts at drilling the old pin out. Really tried to spread that new pin to cover it up.
Eric
Nice, thanks for showing that. It's always nifty to see what an old knife looked like new!Duncan, Rachel, here is a DE I have in the collection, same basic pattern as yours I think.

I’m also a sucker for the Craftsman scout knives…Here's some of my US made "older" knives. My two favorite patterns.. Stockman and Scout. I don't do much to them outside of oiling and maybe hitting them up with a brass brush. Most of them although stained have their factory edges.
Here are some of my Old Timers, two "Waldens" in the back, 3 34OT's and what I believe a bone scaled 8OT in the center.
If you want more detailed, better pictured of any let me know!

Here are my Camillus "66" I love that particular knife because it was used in one of my childhood favorite movies "The Black Stallion" Here is a link on another forum with a little history of that model: https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/knife_forum/viewtopic.php?t=20082

And here some Scout patterns. The white one I just noticed had Official Boy Scouts of America barely visible on the blade.. looks like it was polished off at some point. My Favorite would be the Craftsman.
