"Old Knives"

A couple of old Robeson knives for your viewing pleasure. The Barlow is in great shape but the EO Jack has seen its useful days pass it by. The French Ivory covers are kind of cool though.
Real nice Barlow; but a lot of use is left in that EO!!

I believe I have the same EO, much less worn and with same covers but closer to white. Bought it forty plus years ago, had some blade scratches removed , thoroughhly oiled it and put it away where it has been for four decades. If I can find it I’ll check for a pattern number, measure OAL and share info.

A pic would be nice also!!!

I found the knife! It is pattern 422766 as stamped on the tang. Length closed is 3-1/4". It's in very good condition with only slight wear on the blades and very strong snap on both. I regret that I don't have a means of posting an image. As an aside: from 1944 into the 1970's my father operated a small town traditional hardware store in Orange County, in downstate New York, about fifty miles from Manhattan. During my teen years I worked part time in the store. Right in the front was a Robeson floor display. Many a time I was censured for ogling the knives when I was supposed to be doing chores such as sweeping the floor, dusting the merchandise counters or pricing and putting out newly arrived stock. That large display held a magnetic attraction for me and I recall being able to lean on the front and pore over those knives seemingly endlessly. I probably left a bunch of fingerprints on the glass too! I had various pocketknives including a Camillus (or Camco) Lone Ranger and a Camillus Scout knife, but the Robesons were the pride of the selection and not for me to have!

Glad you found it. 👍

My first Robeson (a circa 1911(?) to 1917 True Sharp Pocket Eze (True Sharp on tang stamp, red background Pocket Eze oval shield) smooth black bone, small 2 blade serpentine jack) went AWOL about 9 or 10 years ago. 😭
Supposedly both "True Sharp" and "Pocket Eze" on the same knife was only for a short time.

Yeah!!! I can post photos again via the BF platform👍👏😁 I have a bunch of photos to post here and will do so as time permits.

Here are three Schrade Cut salesman samples I acquired at the OKCA show in April. From the top a small moose, a sleeve board tip bolster whittler pattern and a congress. All have the desirable crocus polished primary mark side blade finish with all other blade surfaces glaze finished. The top and bottom examples sport peach seed jigged bone handles and the middle one has the earlier divot jigged bone. The divot jigged bone coming right after the pick bone.

Oh Boy Lloyd! I was getting worried as I had not heard from you since the Show, and was wondering when you were going to contact me so you get these sent away to me, you must have been busy :)

Really looking forward to seeing them! 😍

Wonderful scores, Lloyd!!! Your ink collection is the envy of us Schrade lovers!!

While looking for Sears Knives sometime ago, I picked up this Kingston- I only look at these because of the tie ups in the Cutlery World when I am looking at Albert Baers amazing input into the Cutlery World- so here I am falling down the Rabbit Hole of Sears and of course Albert Baer influences.

Such a tidy knife this old Kingston, hasn't done a minutes work - a bit like me today actually so I had better get moving!

A lovely Plain Jane so to speak, but snaps like a hungry Gator
