"Old Knives"

While looking for Sears Knives sometime ago, I picked up this Kingston- I only look at these because of the tie ups in the Cutlery World when I am looking at Albert Baers amazing input into the Cutlery World- so here I am falling down the Rabbit Hole of Sears and of course Albert Baer influences.

Such a tidy knife this old Kingston, hasn't done a minutes work - a bit like me today actually so I had better get moving!

A lovely Plain Jane so to speak, but snaps like a hungry Gator

Minty, with the etch remaining!! Beautiful, simply so, in nice collectible condition!!
Great addition to your pile, Duncan!!

Pretty crude "repair" of a respected classic!!:(
I'm sure a more talented technician could do a better job. Finding an original Russell blade is very unlikely, but I've seen much nicer repairs!! The only limit is how much you are willing to spend!!
Thanks for your reply. My Dad gave me the knife many years ago... so the only investment so far is sentimental. I've admired your collection of large Russell barlows that I've seen here. Are you comfortable making a recommendation as to who I could contact with this kind of repair ? I hope this isn't violating the Forums policies.

A batch of wood handled knives by some pretty rare makers. From the left. J Ward Bronxsville NY, Pennsylvania Knife Co, Sherwood, Co.O Walden NY, Binghamton Cutlery, WH Sample Albany NY, JT Mount NJ. Bottom 2 Barker Dounce & Rose Elmira NY and Grahamsville Cutlery.IMG_2341.jpeg
