Equal end jack, really well made older knives, tough to find in this shape. Tight as a drum, snaps like a gator, and -
this one has their name on the shield. Very few do

Shifting gears a bit.
I'll quote :
New knife , I mean NEW. 1890 - 1920. SOLID gold case . Even the bail is still tight, doesn't move or drop on its own. You have to move it yourself. Never carried or used. 3 1/2 " x 1/2 " , not a little " penknife " either

Sunday go to knife ,posted here on a Sunday

Nice ALL STEEL pre ww II Camillus, heavy , heavy , thick linered, thick bladed tank of a knife , all square and sharp like it should be. Just steel and bone, So solid it feels like a heavy, dense custom in your hand

03-23-2008_101455AM.jpg

This scan shows:
the bottom, showing an additional, thicker liner between the regular liner and the spring , which is then milled away on the top side to provide additional blade clearance room
03-23-2008_101900AM.jpg

And :
the top, showing the thicker liner milled away all the way across the knife, except between the bolsters, so there is that much more room to crink a blade into that additional space

That's about as beautiful as knives get Vince.Holding a knife like that in your hands with the degree of quality only an old one can elude has to feel good.
How do you resist letting some of them slip into your pocket for an EDC?
Great thread

Beautiful! I have been unable to post after seeing all these beauties! there are nowhere near as nice as whats been shown and probably what has yet to be shown, but Here they are anyway.

I like that old Camillus, Vince. From a high point in the history of knife making in America, between the Wars! Here's another somewhat deluxe pattern, a Case Tested Cattle knife. Case often put a clip blade in their cattle knives, unlike the usual spear as a main blade. Notice that milled center liner, and those swedges.

keensharp, this thread is not about what knives are better than others
I started it to show & share some really nice old knives ,to all here, that were shown to me
It turned into,thanks to Blues,a sticky,and a great reference thread.So feel free to add,Thanks,
-Vince

Waynorth, that Case is outstanding. They seem to put a little extra into a nickel silver lined piece.
You just can't buy knives now with quality like that unless it is custom.

Great knives Charlie ,
-Vince
