"Old Knives"

I would've thought it a re-handled knife. It has no shield, the backspring looks very smooth and it may just have been that the owner wanted fatter handles, you do after all get better grip and less pressure with these! Must have been a costly set of handles. Nice handsome chunk of stag on it whatever its origins, and a knife that I'm sure we would all like to own.

Thanks, Will

This Remington 1123 has already been posted in this thread by a guy up North, but it recently came my way. I was blown away on how nice it was after opening the box. Tough knife to open; must have been more manly men back in the day!

Wow, Mike! What an old sweetheart! The blades look completely full, and the bone covers are outstanding! Nice grab.

A true collector's piece,in the strictest sense of the word.I am glad you got it.

That is one of those knives I dream of someday coming across in an antique store, being sold by someone who is clueless about old knives :-)

Mike- I said it before about this knife-it is simply a superb knife- to me a true example of yesteryears supreme quality.
Thank you for sharing this gorgeous example with us.

Unfortunately for me the guy I got it from knew exactly what he had. Thanks Duncan. I've written it before, but I appreciate your enthusiasm for knives!

Nice barrel knife, and great pictures. Should probably go in Mick's Sheffield thread if it's not already there.

I had a chance to handle and enjoy that Remington 1123 at the Oregon knife show last spring and my thumbnail is just now starting to recover. What a beauty of a knife and it should make a great skinning and gutting knife for bowhunting!!!! Here is another Remington. This is a R1773 easy open jack.

Two lovely Remingtons, the Bone on these two examples is just beautiful, I especially like the Easy Openers Jig work - stunning!
