"Old Knives"

I've always liked that term! It's (hold onto something!)
A Platitude with Attitude!!

Back to old knives, here's one that I bought from a very reliable Ebay seller, and just received. It has cell handles, which terrify me (I am typing this UNDER my desk:eek:!), but that deep lemony goodness won me over:p Yum! Plus I like medium stock knives; just a great, carryable size.

It's not as old as I am, but it's from back a ways, 1950s maybe. It is just over 3 1/2" long. I wonder if anyone knows which contractor made it for Shapleigh??

Charlie,You know,that I don't know,who made that knife,lol I'd guess Schrade -Walden ? though
Nice additions & Thanks for keeping this going

Not mine here, just sharing again & quoted from a friend

Check this out :
Here's a pair of old Miller Brothers tuxedo pattern knives These have not been sharpened or used either. They don't have rat tailed bolsters, but they do have balloon bolsters, AND a center bolster, AND 7 pins per side ( count 'em ),
all in a tiny knife 3 " long and 5/16" wide at the widest point, mostly 1/4" wide, tortoise and pearl scales, still no chips or cracks in either one. Even on those tiny blades, check out those perfect swedges. Not very big, but probaby the absolute dressiest knives I've ever seen. The blades all still have very strong snap as well. You cannot tell if either is in your pocket or not, they are that smoothe and light. I do carry them from time to time as I do all my knives. They still cut just fine, just can't trim tree branches with these two. The quarter is much wider then the two knives side by side . Notice the sharp tang ends are covered by the bolsters in this pattern as well. Wouldn't want to snag the pockets of your silk trousers , now would you ? Nicely thought out and executed knives from a bygone era, made by hand in a factory in Connecticut

Regarding the DE Waynorth. I'll guess Ulster maybe. Love that yellow color. I have a Keen Kutter with that lemon drop hue. I'd say you got a nice deal on that one too.

Your friend has quite an eye for knives, Vince!

A while back a forum member here gave me a barlow. It's the first one I've had since I was a kid, so of course now that I'm fully addicted to knives I started looking for more.

Here's a couple from everyone's favorite online auction site

3 5/8 New York Knife Co.

3 3/8 Southington Cutlery Company. Strong snap on both blades. Main blade is down on this old knife.

Mike, those are nice! There's something about old barlow knives that I find very appealing.

That saw-cut bone and the swedges in combination with the honest patina make for one heck of a knife.

Mike, one of the best things about collecting Barlows is the bolster stamps! And you have a couple of rare killers there!! Very nice.
