"Old Knives"

I just picked up this neat German made John Primble. What a cool nice deep etch it has. Oh man how I wish that blade wasn't broken!

Hey Clutch - I couldn't sleep - so I jumped out of bed early this morning, I traced your blade - and drew a very quick line as to get that blade into use again, doesn't loose the Stamping on the blade either..I have done this with a few knives, starting with a vivid marker line on the blade, and slowly taking back the steel - so as to not disturb the heat treatment by getting the blade hot.....hey - not the best...just a thought...

It's been a while since I've contributed something to this great thread. Here's a very old 1860 - 1875 J. Ward & Co Bronxville New York single blade, Ivory scales and nice flat beveled bolsters. 3 3/4" closed

Any idea of what this blade profile was intended for? Looks a bit like a butter knife but I am pretty sure that was not the original purpose!

Not a bad idea. This might be worth a try.....stay tuned!

Here's an old Shapleigh that Charlie let me pry out of his hands, at the OKCA show back in 2012.
Very sharp and is always ready for the cuttin!

Thanks Duncan! :)

fatcorgi, you might be interested in this thread which discusses Tint Champlin's patent.

John, the compass needle is frozen/stuck. I keep my fingers crossed that it might one day work again so that I can try Tint's detailed user instructions (found at the link above).
