"Old Knives"

Nice old Sheffield kit in a leather covered box. The folders are covered in ivory and are 4" closed.

I really like this kit. All the parts are silver except the knife blade of course. No cracks in the ivory, one very small check. Made sometime before 1890 and in excellent shape. There is a piece missing, probably a flask. I wish it was all there. Anyone have any ideas what the piece is that is missing?

Wow, I love that Hatch. The stamp on the main with a big H bracketing at each end is very cool. Those old Connecticut knives are some of the best ever made in the USA in my opinion.

Thank you everyone for all of the nice comments on the old Hatch knife.:)

I picked these two up at the same time, heavily cleaned unfortunately, and any tang stamps have long since gone :(

Both just perfect, Jack. I especially like the barehead whittler!!

The Silver Supper Set is unbelievable. You think that set cost a pretty penny in its day?

Picked this little beauty up for a song over on another knife site less known for their traditional knives. I wasn't sure what I was getting because pics were a little fuzzy but when it arrived I was thrilled with the condition of the little jack and the color of the red bone. Darn near true red bone with mid-era jigging and unused condition. Sometimes it pays to shop around ;)

Picked up this wee fruit knife in silver and MOP at the weekend. John Yeomans Cowlishaw, Market Street, Sheffield, 1916.

Knifeheads set is just incredible-amazing, I often see the odd fork or spoon, but nearly always the knife is missing!

Jack - that Barehead Whittler is a great looking old knife there Sir! - I am sure any one of us would have snatched that up in a hurry!

Nick - the XX is a sweetheart!! Coming from Cases Great era - and in lovely condition too! Good score mate!
