"Old Knives"

Thanks Jack:thumbup: I like Dan, really like that wide nail nick. That is a tiny knife and I used to collect minatures sometime back. They always catch my eye. At first I thought that's a BIG Quarter;) Similar to Sarah's penny/cent:)

Paul, I'll take it!!

Oops, sorry, wrong forum . . . . ;) :D

Gorgeous knife, Paul, and about as good as it gets for the jigged bone, congrats!:thumbup:

A large penknife just under 4 inches closed. Likely made by one of the large Sheffield firms circa 1905 for the Army & Navy Department Store in London.

Very nice large pen in nice condition, Smiling Knife.:)

I had this EXACT knife about two years ago. It now resides in very good hands in NZ;)

The one I sold was Identical to this but in original shape where this one underwent a bit of restoration:eek: I bought it this way and am glad to have it but I always look for "as is" condition that can yet be made serviceable again:thumbup:

Electric Cut Co Jack with great Bone covers Circa 1910---1920? 3 7/16 closed, SOLID blades with great walk and talk:thumbup:

Super stunning old knife!!

I remember the knife you are talking about that Duncan has shown a few times. It is a great knife.

I know what you are saying and I am usually against high luster buffing on an old knife, however, this knife looks very pretty with the high luster. It had to be in great condition to look that good now. You could do just about anything you want with that old knife (finish wise) and it would look still look great.

A WOW knife and I was very impressed!:eek:;):)

Here's some old Schrade Cut Co 836 whittler variations.

Really sweet old knives in great condition Nick. I liked your Case red bone a lot too. ;):)

Thank you Primble, I agree in that it hasn't been over done...as in the swedges being buffed (washed) away...something I learned to look for from Brad/ptradeco:thumbup: I plan to carry and have the patina earn it's rightful place once again;)

I appreciate the compliment coming from a man that owns some of the most beautiful vintage knives I've had the pleasure of viewing:thumbup::)

 Wow, Paul, that is just beautiful! I could stare at that all day.

Very nice Schrades, Nick!

Thanks Dan, I had one before and when the opportunity arose to pickup another, I had to jump:)

Thanks Dan and Primble!

Beautiful Electric you've got there Paul, those covers are gorgeous!

Thank you as well Nick but there's nothing quite as nice a your Schrade's jigged bone;)

Paul

More and more lovelies appearing.
Jack ... A sweet "Sheffield Make [?]" penknife. I like it too.
paulhilborn ... a magnificent jack. It looks very tough but too smart to use !
67nick ... a truly lovely display of whittlers. A great pattern I think.
mike Berkovitch ... another lovely smooth wihittler. Very nice.

Here is a STEER & WEBSTER SHEFFIELD small jack .. 3 inches. Horn scales. Nice and tight if a little worn.

ADEE, thank you for the compliment on the Electric Cutco:thumbup:

The Steer and Webster has a ton of character...often said but it would be so neat to know the life it's lived. Well worn but you know the owner cherished it for the great cutting tool it was;)

Mike, a beautiful Whittler, I just love the saber grind.

Its wonderful to see Pauls stunning Cut Co Jack, I loved the one I bought from him, - it was in a group of older knives I purchased from him, in saying that Paul has gifted me more knives I have bought off him!! He's a wonderful generous guy.
The version I was lucky enough to get my hands on is one of my most favourite Jacks - I really love this knife - one that will stay with me forever.....

Thanks ADEE, that's a lovely Jack, very nice indeed

Duncan, what a gem, beautiful lines, and in fantastic condition, absolutely lovely :)

paulhilborn ... Thanks for the thoughts. I think most small knives over here were used as pipe scrapers and worn away for decades. It was just so with my dad and my grandad anyway.

Jack ... Thanks Jack. The knife is small and nice to hold. The quality is there.

Campbellclanman ... Lucky you ! A very fine looking knife. Nice picture too.

The Bone is quite beautiful - the knife was in great shape when I was very lucky enough to get this from Paul- the Bone had wee tiny white specs - I suspect it to have been paint - man took me hours with a wood toothpick to get rid of them - still are a few minute bits here and there - I will get them :), but yeah Gev - the Bone is just gorgeous!!

Thanks ADEE, that's a lovely Jack, very nice indeed

Thanks Jack - This Jack ( no pun intended my friend ) is almost the perfect knife.

I didnt mean to rain on Pauls show of his magnificent example he has shown us- in fact Paul my friend I didnt know you had another - been holding out on the boys eh?:D, I just wanted to add it in as Paul mentioned it was down here visiting me for a while - well a lifetime...makes you wonder doesnt it who the next and very lucky owner will be of these knives?

Hey guys, some BEAUTIFUL knives, I've really enjoyed looking at all the pictures! Love this forum and just recently joined. A few weeks ago my grandmother gifted me with my late grandfathers pocket knife collection. Needless to say I was blown away. I've always loved knives, but this amazing gift really has kick-started me wanting to gain knowledge and get a decent collection of my own going. Here's a picture of two of the Case knives, the top a stockman and the bottom a trapper (correct me if I'm wrong):

From what I can gather, the top Case is at least 20 years old and the bottom could be almost 70 years old! He also had a very nice Buck 110, two dot that i absolutely love. I'll try and get more pictures later. Happy Friday everyone!
