"Old Knives"

A teeny Miller Brothers quill knife in what Jack and I believe to be ivory:

For a knife that's at least 88 years old, the walk and talk on this are PERFECT.

Wow, great display case CC, thanks for showing it

Three posts (above) in the same minute! :D The Rope Knife is spectacular Galvanic  Lovely Quill Knife Dan, first look I've had at all of it! :)

Okay, I know this isn't a knife but I ran across this display case in an antique mall recently and just had to show it with all these Keen Kutters showing up on here. Wouldn't it make a great display case for knives!
They had it discounted to about$1800.00.

WOW - love the display Mark - not so much the price. :o I could almost read the city on the tag. ;):D

Some really nice Keen Kutters and the NYKC Navy knife shown on the last page.:)

Dan - That little quill knife is special. ;)

Conn / Cutlery Co. / Naugatuck _ 1867-1881 (Connecticut Cutlery Co. Naugatuck CT)

Swell Center Whittler

MOP covers

Pinched Bolsters

Split springs

Great snap and tight blades

3 3/8'' Closed

Sadly, it appears to have been cleaned to look mint (this was mentioned to me) but I couldn't pass on the rarity of this beaut.

These are the sellers photos.

*edit to say that upon further inspection this knife has immaculate fit and finish

This is a great thread. Love looking at pictures of old knives. Very nice Keen Kutters mikeB, SmilingKnife and George65. That Keen Kutter display would look great full of KK knives, however, with a limited budget, I would rather spend my money on knives. Beautiful old NYK navy knife, I would love to find an old NYK with the Hammer Brand blade etch still there. The Miller Brothers quill knife and the Connecticut Cut Co are fine old specimens as well.

Beautiful knife ISK, I could look at those pics all day!

Yes...I think it's a fantastic pic too. Perry!

Just a rare beauty!! Great size and love that elegant shield. Thanks for the look:D

Nice. Who made that set?

Actually, they are 3 orphans! All of different makers. All Sheffield made, the steel is stamped 1943 gill & sons. The fork is nameless and the knife is marked Wing field, Rowbotham.

All very nice and the antler is attractive! I got them from a charity shop for £10, a good score and a gift to my father in law.

Perry, terrific knife and picture!!! believe it or not I collect old tape measures also---where does it end:eek:

The "Hammer Brand" arrived just now and I am really impressed, SOLID and FULL blades, Matchstrike pull on the Spear, Beautiful bone covers with NO issues at all, faint stamp on main blade. I am very pleased with the old girl:thumbup:

Sorry for some of the out of focus pictures---still having "Macro" issues...

Well that financing on the truck's new engine replacement helped---or should I say delayed the inevitable for 6 months with no interest;) AND, and this is a BIG "AND"---I did sell several high dollar moderns to feed my real addiction:D

TRADITIONALHOLIC!!! it's a word found only in places like Bladeforums:D:thumbup:;):p

Thank you Duncan:thumbup:
