"Old Knives"

While you folks have your eyes sharpened, I picked up a couple of pearl pen knives today. The top one is marked Providence Cutlery, but I cant read the bottom one. Something CutleryCo Germany?
Any guesses?
It almost looks like Bismark, but I fear the top line would be off-center. Also there's no Bismark in my Levine 2cd.
I have one just like it stamped Dixon/ Cutlery Co/ Germany, which I'm confident is not what yours says.

Thank you, I thought the same thing. It's hard to look up names when the first few letters are missing. It's driving me crazy, I may have to post it over in the identification forum.

Nice finds r8shell  I'm afraid that I can't read that stamp either :(

Rachael, Ted and Jack very nice and interesting knives:thumbup:

Thanks for trying, Jack. According to zzyzzogeton over in Mr. Levine's subforum, it looks like
Wismar Cutlery Co. Germany.

This seemed to be the best representation of a 19th Century's pocket carry I could muster, (sparing a pipe, pocket watch, and a few skeleton keys). The book was printed in 1854, and this front page was signed and dated in 1858!

Well spotted zzzyzzogeton, clearly not sleeping on the job :) ;) Glad you were able to get a name r8shell, it's so frustrating when you just can't read a tang stamp

It's almost all there, now we know. My next guess was going to be elvismark.

Some very nice knives the last few pages, or really every page of this long thread. I have not had anything to post for a while, but a friend recently gave me this:

Oh, that's beautiful!

I had a chance to tour the Zwillingswerk factory in Solingen ages ago and it only occurred to me recently that I'd like to start collecting Henckels pocket knives.

This one is the best I've been able to find so far (with 'best' being relative and me admitting I'm brand new to traditionals and don't know much at all about 'em except that I like the simple look of sodbusters, so when I saw this one, I jumped on it.):

He also has a much worse for wear older brother. I don't know if anything can be done to help him, but I couldn't leave him all by his lonesome. :p

Welcome Tomboy,
That's a great first post,we like pictures and as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Thanks everyone. Another recent pickup is this Winchester candle-end jack. Its 3 1/8 closed. The candle bolster has a slight bevel to it.
