"Old Knives"

Another great find Mike

I've posted it elsewhere, but here's a William Rodgers Charlie Campagna sent me recently :)

Along with this IXL Barlow :)

Very nice knives, I especially like the lamb foot. The jigging is great and 2 blades also.
Thumb up for Charlie :)

Some very nice knives the last few pages, or really every page of this long thread. I have not had anything to post for a while, but a friend recently gave me this:

Great lookin' horn wrapped Henckels Mike. :)

Yeah, that Henckels is something special!

I agree with Duncan, great knives from a great guy. I also like the jigging on the Rodgers.

Thanks on the Henckels comments. It was a little hard to open all four blades.

I said a while back Mike, this style jigging is indicative of a certain Sheffield period. I guessed around WWII, but Jack would know better than me.

Nice gifts Jack, from our good friend.

I just posted this on the old to new Case thread but thought I'd share again here. I've posted this here before but here are some better pics too.

Easy day at home so a pen knife more than sufficed and this early pre Eisenhower Tested XX Case Pen in nearly 100 year old pocket worn green bone scales was well up to today's task of opening mail and cutting tape.

Look at how thin the frame is, barely thicker'n a 2 bit piece

Look at the secondary blade, as thin as it is someone still had the skill to put a swedge on it. It's so thin it flexes like a fillet knife almost 90* and springs back straight with no ill effect.

The back of the secondary is so thin it almost looks like a sharpened false edge

These skills are long gone at the commercial manufacturers, only the best custom makers have them.
What a great knife, I have and had in the past few CasexxTested, these are real gems.

I agree, but don't know the time period either:

Great Case, but it freaks me out seeing you bending those blades!

Thanks Jack
Whoever owned it must have loved it and looked after it. Its certainly had some pocket time. The shield has lost all trace of its name!!

Great to find a nice old pocket-worn knife that's been looked after
