My good friend @herder very kindly gifted me these two lovelies way before Christmas :) Unfortunately, I lack his photographic skills  I will try and do better at some point

Two exquisite specimens, Jack !!! I recently acquired another R1823, although not in anywhere near as nice as yours. It was carried and sharpened many times, but I love the pattern. :);) Congrats and well done Herder

Thanks Gev, that's lovely :) Happy New Year my friend

-V_P nice Schrade Cut EO Jack with earlier style nicely aged pick bone! Like Jack said I usually pick it off with something less aggressive like a tooth pick or wood sharpened dowel. If the paint is particularly stubborn I have used something like a dental pick tool. Sometimes a solvent is required to help soften the paint and then picking off carefully. I have used paint thinner, alcohol, acetone, non chlorinated brake cleaner with good results. Main thing is to pick and soak and go carefully and slowly. I would just dab the paint spots with a solvent soaked Qtip and avoid exposing the rest of the bone handle to the solvent. Good Luck!!

I usually pick at them with a wooden BBQ skewer or a cocktail stick. You have a fine collection :)

Thanks Jack :) I don't have many fancy knives (yet) but I do have quite a few aged treasures in my collection. I'm grateful to have an outlet to share them because I can only show my wife so many knives before I get the rolling of the eyes reaction  I've only scratched the patina so far and seeing so many different manufacturer's and styles of traditional knives is fueling my collecting fire :D

You're certainly on a roll my modest friend :)

A friend gave me this little 3 1/8" Remington (I think he's trying to purge the celluloid from his collection). It's not in great condition, but it might be fun to tinker with. The secondary blade is basically worn down to an awl/punch, so I might grind a chisel edge on it. I can likely reshape the main blade and try to drop the point below the well. It would be fun to carry, at least until it starts outgassing and I have to pop the covers off. I just like the classy stripes.:thumbsup:

I like the covers Rachel

I agree with Jack R8shell - nice covers on that ol Knife! Your plan is perfect for that knife imo.

Jack - wonderful Knives - that Stag Congress is a gorgeous Knife my friend, and that Pearl is beautiful.

Galvanic- as others have said- we are immensely enjoying your knives matey- what a privilege for us that you share these amazing examples.

Gev my friend- you never cease to amaze me with your amazing and never ending collection.

VP - stunning Schrade - Wow!!

Thanks guys for the comments on the knives I've been posting. To me this is like a knife show, show and tell. When I lived back east in PA I would go to 3 to 5 knife shows a year and the people I would meet there, some of which are on this forum and AAPK forum, would bring our show and tell knives to share and possibly trade. I really miss that because the closest knife show is Oregon and I have not gotten there yet, maybe this year. So this is my show and tell! Thanks again for all those that take the time to show there knives.

Gev, here is the twin to the Catt and the etch is the same but much clearer. catthunterspridemint2.jpg
